Looking for advice - Leo 2399kv and AQ 60 amp on 3s - will it work?

    Hi all!

Thinking of upgrading my old MG 24 with stock prop to the Leo and esc combo above but wanted to ask for some advice before I did. Do you think this would work? The Leo says it's max amps is 80 but I don't know if that's constant or surge. Do I even have to worry much about that if I'm running 3s? What if I run 4s?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

I don't think that ESC works on 3s. The cut off voltage is set for 11.6V for 4s, so it will see low voltage very early in the run.
That motor kv is too low for 3s anyway but it is a bit high for 4s sport running. It might spin a 437 prop without overloading the 60A ESC. As long as the boat is running light & free.
See the danger. THEN DO IT ANYWAY!!!

Paul is right, the ESC would not arm if it's less than 4s.

Ahhhh... Thanks! It didn't even register with me that might be the case. Anyone think I could use my old proboat 45 amp speedo in there? It's rated for 3s maybe but the amp rating is too low. Would it be ok with that motor if I'm running 3s? I'm running stock steel proboat prop, which I believe is something close to a y535.

It all depends on the size of the motor........................kv doesn't tell the whole story.
NEED PARALLEL CONNECTORS?? QUALITY 5.5MM, 8MM, 8 AND 10 AWG, GET THEM HERE: http://forums.offshoreelectrics.com/...est!&highlight=
