I haven't had a flex collect issue. The ones I have seen fail have been overtighten crushing the collet insert. Always take a look at the insert to make sure there is still room between the "fingers". If it has been overtighten you can use a dremel cutoffwheel and recut the slots. Using antiseize on the collet threads will help a lot with keeping the flex shaft secure without damaging the insert. Look under the aquacraft revolt section for lots more tips. There's plenty of fun to be had before thinking about upgrades!Comment

One more thing, get yourself a 3/16" flex shaft saver. It's a piece of round stock with a 3/16" hole in it and a 3mm tapped hole. It goes between the stuffing tube and motor. Tighten the secret onto the flex shaft. If your collet ever let's go the shaft saver stops the entire flex shaft with prop from disappearing out the back of the boat to the bottom of the lake. Cheap insurance for $10 or so.Comment

Good idea about the flex shaft "saver", Fella!Comment

I wished I would of had a flex shaft saver.. I wasn't too happy to lose the only prop I had at the time. Turned into a pretty expensive order after only running the boat a half dozen times.Comment

Mine was caused by a wrong sized motor shaft and Collet was forced on the shaft out of ballance taking out motor bearings, shaft broke in half and knocked liner loose had to 're epoxy it sending a friend's prop not mine to the bottom of the pond . Tower replaced it all no questions asked!Comment

Glad to see you went with the revolt. Outside of the flex shaft issue, it's a awesome boat. I've had a lot of fun with mine. The pond I run on is 550 ft x 200 ft and has a lot of chop, the revolt is perfect on it. Check out this thread showing my revolt 30 odyssey: http://forums.offshoreelectrics.com/...aiden!-W-video
Also, here's a amazing thread showing the full potential of this boat: http://forums.offshoreelectrics.com/...-X642-questionLast edited by fwlbp; 01-29-2015, 09:56 PM.Comment
