I've been into RC planes for about 9 years now, but my wife took an interest in boats. So we got the Thunder Tiger Desperado Jr at the hobby shop. We were only seeing drops of water coming out of the water exit on the side, but being newbies to boats we thought that was how it was supposed to be. During the 3rd run, the motor cooked. Even after about 10 minutes of waiting for the boat to drift back to the shore, the motor and ESC were too hot to touch. I was using the recommended battery and running some full throttle and some part throttle during the run.
The boat uses a brass tube in front of the rudder with an angled cut. Before running it, I blew through the exit tube and it flowed fine, then after cooking the motor I blew a mouthful of water through it and found no leaks. So can anyone tell me what might have gone wrong? Are these water pickups really sensitive to position or the angle of the cut on the end of the tube? The hobby shop is replacing it under warranty so I don't want to mess up another one.
