TFL Pirsuit Strut Acts Like a Water Pump

Hi! I bought a brand new all stock TFL Pirsuit, and it takes on water like nobody's business. I changed the cable which was rotating in reverse to no avail, shrink wrapped the stuffer entry, loaded it with grease, it still drinks in water like a skid row bum.

Anyone else experience this? It also dosent want to accept normal 3/16 prop hubs, and the collett dosent accept a PLTD motor without mods.
I would love to use this boat without having to buy a new drive system..

I had to silicon the *!***!***!***!** out of the gap where the stringer goes into the hull. I've had a few dry runs with it like that but the silicon seems to get pulled out over time, I probably need to clean the grease out better next time I try to seal it. Is it a solid flex or two piece square drive set up?

Kinda a big hull for the limited classes no?

Not really. Depending on water conditions it will always finish in rough water compared to some cats and smaller Vee's.

I think a rubber grommet in between the gap could work.

I agree, had to seal that gap. I was blown over at how much water it sucked up, no matter what I did.
Some recommand using silicone exhaust tube, but i couldn't find the right size, if you have , just cut a piece and put it over the exposed area.
Bill, glad to know you have problems just like the rest of us!
Too many boats, not enough time...

I do Tlandauer, but the only difference is my ability to solve these things. Lets spend an afternoon working this boat over.
There are a FEW things that aren't right. I rarely post my boats or workmanship, but I feel good about this. Many believe the misconception that I'm all bling and no go, but this thread should change things a bit : )

First lets start with these trim tabs. I cant STAND plates that aren't flush with the riding surface. Makes you have to apply neg angle to the tabs for them to touch the water.
            How is that fast?

Got the plates off and the workmanship became apparent..

I bored out the mount holes on the plates themselves to make them adjustable, now Voilla!
Things are right. Oxidean style and yes that IS a bucket with champagne blurry in the background : )

Ray, you're right. I won with it first race against smaller boats.

"If you're so great with boats Bill, then why not address the drive drinking water issue?"

I intend to do JUST that. In fact, I'm using a special drive setup no one in the country is using. I'm gonna replace the stainless stock strut assembly with an Atomik Miss Excite strut and bracket.
The Atomik strut uses a 4mm shaft. I had Jeff Wohlt mahe me some .078 wire drive shafts 4mm stepped up to 3/16.
Our strut is ball bearing, and with the smaller bearings I'll get less friction, and with the smaller strut I'll have less drag and substantial weight loss..

I want to end the "Nay sayers" who discredit what I post. Now you guys can see first hand what I do and why I'm respected by those who compete with me regularly : )

Hey Bill I hate to say it but mine was perfect, I bought mine almost 2 years ago and it's been sitting in my garage, I decided to put electronics in it a few weeks back. I tested it and my daughter raced with it and won P-lim offshore w it, I didn't even have to touch a screw on the hardware it ran flawlessly, no water or anything. Sorry bud.

Bill, my comment was not a jab at you, I have seen you in action, hope you didnt take it wrong!
Now i have a question, i understand why you can't stand how the trim tabs were mounted. But i thought the tabs should not be completely flush with the bottom, i dig what you said, just want to learn a bit more.

You may have gotten a better run. I'm willing to bet a few things in production changed since then.
They couldn't All do this, I just see a few others have dealt with it. You gotta see it Mike, its NUTS. I set the boat in the bathtub, and water was running in through the stuffer just sitting..
                            Thanks for the positive input!

thats a bummer, I do hate the 2 piece drive line, but I don't feel like taking the boat apart to put in a single piece drive!!!
