Magnet let loose on brushless rotor.

    Hi,

    I have a track star 10.OT 3900kv motor in a buggy,

And I thought it stripped a spur gear or the pinion gear came loose.

But all looked good when I took it apart to see.

Than I pulled the motor apart,

And found the magnet loose in between the end plates that are on the rotor shaft.

I think the glue bond just let loose from being to hard on the brakes,

But not really sure why it happened.

So I was going to try and fix it with some red thread lock,
By putting it in the groove between the magnet and plates.

Any one have this happen before with a motor ?

    Thank for any input.

Haha, I was going to PM you to ask how that buggy was doing Len. You know, I remember somewhere someone having success with something to glue them magnets in. I think it was local.

Got any 638? The red would not do it for long I don't think.

      Hey,
No I do not have any 638.
Maybe I will try a little JB weld or some other epoxy I have hear,
I see you are modding up a hatch for the bling rocket.

Yup, gonna be awhile till it is warm enough to even attempt a swim.
Not sure what style to do though

JB should work, worst can happen is you have to redo at some point

We used to use epoxy on dc drives at work to get the junkets back up and running. I seem to remember using a non conductive type. Though they may have been paying for regular epoxy with a special label and higher price. Epoxy is the only thing I would use. These were large cnc machines that were pounder hard. Most repairs lasted my time there and beyond. Can't hurt to try.

Well I used a little of the red permatex thread locker #26250,
And let it dry over night good and put the motor back together and the buggy.
Than ran it on a 2s pack and all was good so far,
So I tried it on 3s and it's holding the magnet to the shaft and shaft plates still.
I guess will see how it holds up with the red TL.
I might grab one of those cc 4600kv motors in the swap shop to try in this to.

This thing does 42 mph on 2s 30c 5000mah pack now,
And at 3s 55mph when it says hooked up.
Using 25 pinion/88 spur for 10 minute run on 3s motor temp is 120 and all else is cool.

                Pm, (Thing).
                Still not a wake yet.

Wow, thats kind crazy when motors come apart .

Yesterday, l8rg8r had a traxxas velineon 7800kv 380 motor go souuth on him. Ricky was gonna run it in a modified 12th scale jetboat. The can let loose and slid off the armature, and the armature was free spinning on the main shaft .

                  Needless to say, its toast

                    Why toast ?
Can it not be epoxied back to the shaft again ?

That was my first thought too. On closer inspection the windings are hashed from a screw being too long ....

Yep something new to try it on for now,
I need to pick up some med CA to have on hand.
Because I find my self hot gluing a lot of my test setup.
