The timing on the AQ esc is fixed at 10 so it may be a little low depending on the specs of the motor.
If my boats upside down then who owns the one I thought I was driving the last two laps?

But I don't know my venom 500 out runner motor what timing . I just know the original ESC is set 11.25 . But I can
tell you the venom miss excite 60 A pro marine ESC is not 100% waterproof . It was because last time I play my venom hydro . Maybe too wave in the lake so my boat turn over . At last when I pick up my boat the ESC have problem . The BEC is burn and can't operate normal . I use the Aquacraft ESC long time ago . This ESC never make me problem whatever this ESC have much more water inside the boat. So I hop can use aquacraft ESC for this out runner motor. And also I asked the aquacraft technician . He said it could work but can't more than 60 Amp.
Please every master can tech me can I use or not ?

        Thanks !!

Venom ESC's rebranded / relabeled Hobbywing ESC's sold for about 2~3-times the price of the HW

I've never run an outrunner in a boat, but in general they do prefer high timing, BUT this does depend on the wind and polecount of the motor. Not really sure what would happen on a low timing, Probably not much except maybe a little less power or efficiency. You could probably find better info than what I have posted with a search. I do know a while ago Fighter Cat outrunners were popular for a brief period of time, read plenty of posts about them. I do have one that I have never used in anything.....powered it up once on the bench, sounded really cool!

I replaced the stock "Venom" 60 Amp ESC in my P1 KOS with a HK 120 Amp ESC, works great. Timing set at 15* , ( some recommend even higher) the motor does run a bit hotter than my in-runners though. I learned that it is normal for out runners but you still need to keep checking your temp. One lesson I learned was that make sure all your water lines are secured and not loose inside your boat, mine got tangled up and was rubbing with the motor and it destroyed the motor , should see how white smoke filled the see-thru cockpit. lol...
Dead motor works great as a paper weight and conversational piece!

I don't think any of them is 100% waterproof. It may be waterproof when you get it but over time the coatings and seals will break down due to heating and cooling of the unit. Then the water creeps in and the magic smoke creeps out.

It is not 100% water proof, the AC is considered as 100% , but as said, no ESC is 100% water proof. You should try to find all likely water entry passages in your hull. I have flip my boat many times but it is always dry inside because I am very thorough when it comes to preparing my hull before I hit the water. Tape your hatch well and make sure all the through-hull fittings are sealed, i.e., antenna aluminum fittings, waterline fittings etc.
What I am saying is that you should not make your decision on an ESC based on whether it is 100% water proof or not. One of the best ESC like the Shulze ( such as the 40.160) was VERY MUCH NOT water proof!

                        Brand Confusion??

                        Just wanted to clarify...

I was referring to HobbyWing ESC's not HobbyKing ESC's

                        This one... http://www.hobbywing.com/product_show.asp?id=223

                        Or

                        This one... http://www.hobbywing.com/product_show.asp?id=221

Are both excellent choice's IMHO and based on actual use experience with both.

Used the 60-amp unit with great success in one of these boats with the stock {outrunner} motor... http://www.aquacraftmodels.com/boats...cat/index.html - I'm still kicking myself in the A$$ for selling it, could really use it bout now - the ESC - not the boat, glad I sold it.

FYI: Jan has the best price's. The 90A is less than $10 more than the 60A, if you can afford it I would go for the 90A unit, extra overhead is always a good thing.

Double check the web site. Now it reads splash proof ( not waterproof ). Do a google check for waterproof escs first!!!!!!

                              Hi.

On that V500 outrunner 2000kv motor with the stock 60a esc aka turnigy/seaking I ran the timing at 26.25,
                              Using a x440/3 on 4s 30s 5000mah pack.
The boat was a P1KOS mono and it ran a little cooler and it also ran 5 mph faster to,
Just from moving the timing up from 15.00 to the 26.25 setting.
I also ran the same setup on 5s and ran even cooler and a lot faster.
                              ? ONLY IF THEY WORK
