External h2o pump to improve cooling.........

    Hello evetybody,

My nitro boat buddy has a really cool idea that he uses to boost his cooling effiency in his boats. i thought the same idea could be used on fe setups as well. He uses an auxiliary windshield washer pump powered by its own battery as a power source, & plumbed into the h2o pickup to maximize cooling effiency. Theres enough pressure in the system to push the h2o lines off the water nipples, so he uses zip ties to secure them. It shoots water out of the h2o outlets like a fountain. Kinda like the scale boat guys use for water cannons i guess.....

I've seen people doing that. Circulating water thru an fe system will cool things down very quickly when the motor isn't running. I choose to keep things simple

I thought about hooking something up between runs to cool down quicker and get back in the water on hotter running setups.

I thought about this as well.

But how much water compared to the boat at speed?

I use a 5 litre pump sprayer to run cold water through after runs, just pump up the pressure and it when it runs out all is cold. Works well, no batteries required!

My pal is'nt running this as a kool down system. He has a 7.2v split pack mounted inboard to power the pump while he is running laps at speed. Its a noticable difference with cooler running temps, & it is visually cooler with h2o shooting outta the ports like a fountain..........

tried same thing when new to fast electrics. if your system is running hot, something is wrong and adding all this weight and additional hardware isnt going to solve it. keep it simple.

I ran nitro for many years, never ever felt the need for a cooling pump, in some cases just the opposite, had a hard time getting the engine hot enough.
I agree something is wrong with the setup if you need a cooling pump while running an electric.
If my boats upside down then who owns the one I thought I was driving the last two laps?
