I bought a plastic bare hull for the original Kyosho Hurricane about 25 years ago and ran a single Astro 25 motor and 12 round cells. It was a lot of fun after I made a few mods to the bottom, but the new version is longer and better rigged. The pricing seems on the high side but then it is assembled with a 'glass hull, all drive gear and radio. Kyosho used to make the best RTR boats, but it's been awhile. I've seen worse...

My first FE boat was the Kyosho Twinstorm. Cool looking and well made, it ignited in me the passion for this hobby. Like most RTR's (including the one under discussion here) it was intended to be a profit maker in the market segment that would (pretty much) run it as it was made. Of course (and if you're reading this you're one) the "let's mod it to gofaster" crowd can pick out elements that aren't optimal to make it gofaster. The Kyosho Huricane looks really nice and should do well as designed, period.

As an aside, I work for and write for a magazine published in Tokyo and use a translator. The copy in the ad description in the link displays a fairly reasonable Japanese to English language conversion with just a little awkwardness that happens when an English-trained Japanese interpreter does the job. Gave me a knowing smile

Kyosho has a lot of interesting products. I particularly like some of their rc car stuff as well. The problem is, all of their products are considerably above market price for similiar type items. I often wonder how they are doing selling rc in the United States.

I have so many of their Mini-Z line of cars, you can't beat their realism, they are almost like die-cast quality with full RC function, plus it is proportional RC, where else can you find them???!!!!
However, I think they are over priced and I know a retailer here in So Cal who told me it is hard to do business with them because they want to have control over many aspects of the business. One of the reasons why TowerHobbies stopped carrying their products many years ago. That was a time at least one can use Tower's discounts to off set the higher prices . oh, well...

has anyone here ran the kyosho jet stream 888 ve?(V-Hull)self righting feature.

if their boats are in par with their surface vehicles than they should be darn great.
also off topic how do you guys feel about the self recovery system (roll over) feature?
