Tfl genesis stock model? Any heat problems on 4s?

    Hi everyone.

I maby want to buy a rtr cat and i have looked at the tfl genesis rtr.
The boat comes with 120A esc and a 3674 2075kv motor.

I have do a search on the Google and i have reed a couple of guys that says the electroinic is to hot after run. They have change out the moto with lower kv and after that the heat is gone.
They have run it on 4s. Also looking at YouTube that many use 4s and it seems to run fine.

    The stock motor should get 30700rpm on 4s. 14.8v x 2075kv.

    Someone here with advice?
I will keep it stock and use 4s if its possible without to get it to heat.

    Many thanks for help.

If your going to upgrade the motor, go with a 4-6s motor (lower Kv like you mentioned) so you have the option for 6s later. After a few 4s runs you will probably itch for 6s which is perfect for this boat. You might also have to do some driveline improvements too, keep that in mind as you upgrade.

Is there any reason you haven't looked at the Tfl Zonda? It is the same hull as a carbon fiber fantasm from fightercat you can buy it rtr. I just like the bigger hull. If money isn't an issue though there are plenty of people that can build you an amazing boat however you want it?

Thanks for replays, zonda is a bit expencive to me now.
Yes i could upgrade the genesis later after trying it stock with 4s this summer, if the boat can handle 4s easy without to get to heat?

Don't get me wrong the genesis is nice for what it is. It's just not a rocket ship out of the box. And 4s is fine as long as you don't over prop it. Just realize its a narrow single motor cat and you are golden.

They go well for the $$$ but the motor is a paper weight. One I gave to a mate was kv tested and come up at 1250kv.
Get the one with just the hardware and motor. Ditch the motor and buy a decent motor/ esc and prop and it will be good to go.

Just do the math....go run it for 4 or 5 minutes on a fully charged pack, then measure the Mah capacity you put back in when you charge it next. Compare that to the total capacity of the battery and the amount you ran it to determine an approximate run time. I don't like to discharge my packs more than 75% capacity to keep the cells healthy and avoid over discharging.
