Thanks, Lenny - You've been tremendously helpful. I was thinking I would start my build thread once I had a better idea as to what the heck I'm doing... ha. At this point I have way more questions than answers.... so Q&A is perhaps the best place for this thread? Please let me know if I'm wrong. I'm taking pictures as I go and intend to lay out my build (in hindsight) in an orderly fashion once I've worked through all of my RC rookie questions/mistakes. After posting the above pictures last night, I removed the nitro engine and related parts, and also used a heat gun to remove all the factory proboat decals... it's now truly a clean slate. I can tell I'm hooked already as I'm willing to sacrifice sleep.
Next step is to find a brushless setup. Still leaning toward the 4082 combo deal at this point, unless I can find a comprable setup cheaper, or used.
Lenny, or anyone else for that matter... what is the best way to mount the new motor in the hull? An entirely new mount fastened to the hull somehow, or a new mount that I fasten to the stock engine mount? The original engine mount had vibration dampening rubber spacers between the mount and the hull... hopefully I will no longer need those as I had to sacrifice one last night to get the engine out.
Cheers, gents - happy Sunday
