    8mm or 5.5 bullets

In the process of putting 2 boats together using 6S. Should I be using 8mm bullets for batteries and motor connections or just the batteries.
    Or 5.5 for all?

    5.5 should be good,
But what setups and hulls are you going to use ?
    ? ONLY IF THEY WORK

My "standard" among my boats is 5.5's (the good ones) on the motors and 8mm's on the batts. My rescue boat & my JAE 21 have 5.5's on batts.

I do this so the same batts can go to any boat. Also if I want to swap motors around it makes things easier.

8mm is probably overkill but after you've already spent all that time and money building a beast what's an extra $10 on connectors. It's like building a custom car and saving on the cheapest wax you can find.

I use 8mm everywhere and always unless it is a low amp draw setup like a supervee or 60 ish amp setup in general, Smaller connectors can cause resistance and therefore heat buildup so I don't take any chance of connectors becoming unsoldered while in use .Its more about choosing the proper connector for each setup like a 200amp setup will likely fail using 5mm bullets. Hence why massive car stereos use 1ga. wire and high end connections, Ya don't want ur car melting hahahaha

                K. Will go with 8 on batts and 5.5 on motors.
Boats are a 36 deltaforce and a 36 team beleviever. 180 turnigy and leopard 4080 1600 kv. And have a castle 200 amp for the team believer but not sure what motor to use yet. What would I need on 6s and what prop to push it over 60mph reliably.

I use 8mm on everything even my UL1 motors, motors just convert the energy the battery's are capable of producing to rotational power, I don't want any restrictions in that path.

These replies make no sense to me.
I have never overheated to the melting point any battery connectors.
Yes, on N2 set-ups they get pretty warm, but that is all.
On more than several of my boats I have over-heated to the point of
melting the solder out of the motor connectors.
                              So here is my set-up.
5.5's on all of my batteries
8mm on the motor leads if that particular
boat is a high amp set-up.
This way your battery connections are good for all of your boats.
In the case of the 8mm...... typically the high amp esc's and
the high amp motors will always be paired together so there
will be little non-compatability between your set-up connections.

I have also found the Polymax 5.5's with the step at about 2/3rds
of the way down the connector to be tighter fitting and far superior
to any of the other 5.5's on the market. They are hard to find but the
following ebay link shows the good 5.5's currently for sale.
They are well worth the extra trouble getting them as they definetely
stay cooler and maintain a tighter fit than other brand 5.5's available.
Make sure to identify that step about 60% down the male connector.

                              Hope this helps,
                              Ken
