Flush mount water pickup

Just a question on flush mount water pickups. I would like to use them on a cat I am building andI have limited room were I can mount them.
Were I have it sitting in the picture is were it would probably have to be and not having used them before not sure if it is to far forward ???.

That is about where they were on my cat and they worked ok.
