Before buying the MLB GP 335 need Help :)

    Hello community,

I need your help about the GP335 from MLBoatworks before buying :)

I would like more information about the hardware for this hull.

I have a huge lot of SLS Lipos 2S 5000mAh 40/80C. So for me the most interesting is to start on the 4S.

What type of electric motor should I choose? Not too expensive :)
What KV choose for this type of hull?

    Thank you for your help

In a 33" Whiplash (same size as the GP335) I run a TP Power 4082 2180kv motor on 4s with an ABC H-5 prop Turnigy 180A ESC.
    Strong, reliable, cheap, set up.
    But there are many options.
See the danger. THEN DO IT ANYWAY!!!

      Thank's for your answer :)

      obviously I have the choice.

So for the engine I have to opt for a ΓΈ40mm

Could you give me the approximate weight of the empty Hull RTR to get an idea.

The thing is to define the KV and the size of the propeller. For more KV is important is less the propeller.

Smaller the KV over the propeller will be great

      The choice looks complicated

Bou, I saw this thread right before sending you a reply PM this morning, and the motor suggested will work fine. I suggest starting around an x445 prop with that kv and 4s power. If i remember, my gp335 was around 6.5lbs plus or minus. You are right tho, prop is gonna be key to keeping the motor temps down with a 4s setup this size. I ran a Neu 1521 1.5d in mine and it would handle plenty of prop! Let me know you saw this post and I will not worry about a pm reply at this time. Thanks, Mike, www.ml-boatworks.com

Just getting my GP335 dialed in. I am running a turnigy 4074/2000kv motor. Batteries 5000mah 4s and I am running 2p. Ready to run weight is 8.5 lbs. Got it wet for the first time last weekend. Impressive performance even with an undersized prop and no-name hardware. Waiting on two props to be delivered this week. This is a great running hull.

            Thank's for your answer :)

            I will run with a Tp 4050 5D 2600Kv and starting with 42mm propeller.

            What do you think?

The kv seems high (from a number of articles I have read) but I am still relatively new to the game to give you a confident answer. I am sure that more experienced guys will help with this. Depending on your previous experience with this a good place to start is by reviewing the fast electric calculator posted on this and other sites.

                  Thank's for answers

I think that 2200KV are insufficient for this type of boat because:

2200x14.8 = 32560 RPM, this is good for me for a Mono Hull, Hydro need more than 32,560 ...

                  2600 * 14.8 = 38480 RPM, This is already more speed in mind ....
Finally I expect more notice of community involvement as this will really interest me

                  Thank you to all

What ESC are you going to run with that setup?

2600 kv is way too high for this hull in heat trim. SAW is one thing, but you will burn that motor up quick after 6 laps. I ran a 1521 1.5d, 1850kv and was running around 63 or so mph with an x455. The 1521 can length allows for much better power (wattage ability) vs the 50mm can you are looking to run. That is really really undersized for a 7lb hull. With that kv and the weight, you will likely push 250 amps continuous as well. Just being honest! Mike

                          Thank's fort answer mike.

The best option is going with 2200kv .the choice is little only leo and TP ..

Quite a few options out there - Castle, Neu, Plett, Lehner...... And a bunch of other mid range motors like the TP and Leopard, same motors under different brand names.
If my boats upside down then who owns the one I thought I was driving the last two laps?
