Motor question for my proboat Blackjack 29

Hi

I have decided to upgrade the esc to Hobby Wing "SeaKing" 180 Amp V3.

But dont know which motor to choose.

I want a setup that could run on 4s and 6s and on 6s (dingoy 65C 6000mha) it should run as fast as possible :-)

The motors i choose between is leopard-4074 and 4082.

What is the main difference between these motors?

And which kv should i choose?

You should choose 4S OR 6S. Build your setup according to the batteries. I've had problems with running different voltage batteries on the same ESC, especially the T180. KV ratings 2200 for 4S and 1600 for 6S.

Yep. No good 4s and 6s setup. Plus keep in mind that without seriously re-enforcing the hull it will break at speeds over 50 and in some cases less.

Yes the proboat hulls are notorious for cracking at the bow seam. I have a blackjack 29 build thread that shoes how I reinforced the inside of the hull with CF. I'm also considering using expanding foam in the bow to make it more rigid. I'm researching the best way to control how the foam expands once I come up with an idea I'll post it on my thread

The 4082 would be an extremely tight fit under the sub-hatch, I have a 4074 and it fits under the sub-hatch with mere millimeters to spare. The longer 4082 would probably also require a mount swop to support the back end. The puny stock motor mount would flex a lot under these big cans.

Also remember that low volts and high kv run a lot hotter than high volts and low kv. My own set-up is 6S with a 1400kv 4074 motor with a 180A ESC and it runs fast and cool... Not being prescriptive, just sharing my experience with this boat.

I must agree with lomdel my 4074 just barley fit under the sub hatch but at 2150kv on 4s it was fast

Ok, to late I just bought the 4082 :-( any one having this motor on the blackjack 29?
