Heading hold Gyro for a boat

Opinions wanted on this subject please.

The use of a Heading Hold Gyro in RC boats

Basically, a heading lock gyro will keep the nose pointed in the same place until you tell it to move.

It's used in Heli's and they are very light and tiny. Your thoughts please?

I voted but, it has allready been done. Its a killa idea for boats like your hovercraft but for anyother it wouldnt be worth it. Some tried it to also counteract blow overs by mounting them on trim tabs. Didnt work. just caused nose dives.

I stayed up one night thinking about putting a gyro in the nose then control trim tabs or cav plates with a survo. It would be hard to set the gain on the gyro
I have all the parts and was thinking of mocking up a hull with the gyro and cav plates just to see if it would work in my hand. Kind of lost interest....................
Here are some heli pics I would sell any of the two heli's if there are any takers

They talked about this on RRR, someone said the gyros were fast enough but the servos were to slow

get a faster servo. there are VERY fast servos out on the market today.
if you wanted to use a gyro properly you should use a digital servo.
yes they wine and are annoying at times but they are worth it.

Taylor, Andy Kunz has some interesting insight to this on this thread.

I also read your idea for your front wing that you had for one of your boats. did it ever work?
