Ahh...but you can get a good quality, SEMI-professional looking paint job with a can that will look good and protect the boat.

Besides, I don't know if it's just me, but If I put any more time or money into a RC boat paint job than I have, I would cry the first time I dropped it, ran it into the dock, dropped a Tx on it, dropped a battery on it, ran over rocks with it, ran it up on the beach, sprayed shaft grease all over it, got run over by another boat, ran into the rocks on the bottom of the lake, etc....

...and there is the 45mph rule, looks good at 45mph (sorry that's my top speed right now, well...actually 44.9 but I'm giving myself the 0.1mph)

      Sorry to butt in....
      This is NOT a toy?!?

I saw some rustolium chrome paint and then thinking about candy blue over it, it should really pop.
Dana that paint looks great and a nice color blue.
I was always taught to use a white, silver or gold as a base color for candy paint.
even was kicking around blending the blue candy into a red candy, not sure what to do about the hatch yet.

I used a similar product earlier this year on my small rigger, looked great. But after taking a few beatings the boat is now a bit patched and shabby. Paint was a red for spraying over chrome etc surfaces, it definitely needs a base coat to go onto but gives a nice gloss finish. I plan to use the same stuff again with silver and/or gold base. Oh, and I'll try not to damage my boats!!

You can spray candy over any color. Just because silver and Gold are most popular doesn't make it a rule. Candy coats are tinted translucent clear coats. So don't limit yourself to thinking you must use certain base colors
