The Mean Machine is a good LSO boat too. Handles well but, some say the finish on the hulls are not so great.
They still sell the empty nitro version in the clearence section for about $60... You can't beat that with a pool noodle!!Nortavlag Bulc

You could wait for the BlackJack 29 to come out. It is the latest, greatest version of a Geico.
I run a Geico hull modified for LSO, lots of fun. The Mean Machine may be a tad better In some peoples opinion.Nortavlag Bulc

I'm still running my 7 year old titan 29 and just built 2 more for my daughters to run, not as flashy or new as the others but still a very capable hull, it's been outdated as a P-mono because of the power we have for P and the lift the hull has but they run great with p-spec power. James,
I would suggest a mono as your next boat. This is just my opinion, but I feel you will find success (FUN) quicker by buying a RTR mono or building a mono. CATs are great, but they are difficult to set up to turn well. Also CATs at speed are more susceptible to blowing over than a mono.
Let’s face it, if you’re looking to run a boat in P-Limited Offshore the keys to success are a boat that can handle ANY water conditions, a good handling boat, and a consistent finisher. Notice that I didn’t put in SPEED. I did that for a reason, the fastest boat doesn’t always win. That is especially true for the P-Limited Offshore class.
Suggestions (all that have already been stated)
RTR – Aqua Revolt – I won’t say this is the “BEST” hull, but it sure is a great way at a great price to get into the offshore class. BEST VALUE between $$$$ and performance.
Build
Bling Rocket – I am pretty sure this boat is a little longer than the others making it a more stable/consistent boat compared to the others. But, it will be a little tougher to get the speed out of it.
Delta Force 29 – Happy medium between size, handling, and speed
Titan 29 – Another solid performer that is and has been proven over the years.

Mike all i can say is "Amen". You are reading my mind, since i am at school though i am probably gonna go the rtr route revolt. It seems to be a good boat and i just dont have the time to build a boat. I agree with everything you said regarding cats vs. monos. Also finishing is no.1 in offshore no doubt about it. Thanks for the tips.Comment

James, you've seen my P spec cat run. It doesn't get any faster than that. I've run them for two seasons now. How many times have you seen it floating on it's lid? More often than not. haha I did recently change props and slow down a tick. Makes for a better boat for sure. I do love cats. They can be a lot of fun and the straight line speed is awesome but I still think in race water, especially on our puddle, the monos have an advantage.Noisy personComment

Not all cats will flip over all the time. Setup is key as is tunnel design, but driving skill is probably the most important factor in staying upright. Once you know how your cat handles wind and waves you can learn to drive it on the edge with less time spent upside down. It's called a throttle, not an on-off switch. As for monos not flipping as much as cats do -Our typical P-Limited Offshore heats with a mix of hull types has just as many monos over as cats. Of course we run in rougher water than most do....

After running the Miss Geico and the Mystic a LOT at the Nationals... I'm still not convinced that a Cat isn't just as competitive in Offshore as a Mono... I was certainly as fast, or faster, then most of the monos... It it was the tight turns that were the issue, and I think I've figured out why.
If you have the RPMs to run a smaller prop, then the MG/Mystic won't "trip" nearly as much, if at all. I was trying to run a 1500KV setup with a HUGE wheel, and the boat worked perfectly, about 80% of the time... It would be going along just fine, running in the lead, or battling at the front, and then, almost instantly, it would just grab and roll-over in the turns.
When I ran my shortened Mystic in N2-Hydro, I put on a much smaller prop and jammed the RPMs... The boat was not only a rocket, but flew through the turns without much of a hint of grabbing or rolling over. Finished 4 out of 4 heats, running hard.
Like Jay said, it's all going to come down to setup and driving.
OH, and I still wouldn't count out the Impulse 31 Mono... With the right setup, this boat handles GREAT.Darin E. Jordan - Renton, WA
