You have to go parallel, if you had them in series you would only be powering one esc. Two motors, two esc's and one lipo hooked to each esc. If it goes ok and your temps are not high, you could try one 4s lipo per esc and motor, but a short run and check your temps on esc's and motors. The lipo needs to go to the esc, red to red and black to black, with some 5.5 bullet conn. Then the 3 wires from the esc to the 3 wires on the motor, if it turns the wrong way, switch one wire to another. Use 5.5 conn there too. Make sure you have good water flow to esc and motor and that you keep water from getting to the boat by tape on the hatch and dont run too large of a prop or props in this case to start or you will draw too many amps and fry a esc or motor. Take your time and dont rush things, it will save you money in the long run. What kind of esc do you have? Hope this helps, there are many that know alot more than I do, but these are just the basics. Oh and the more simple and direct the wires are the better, try to stay aways from the deans conn if you can, but they nay be ok on this as its not a HV setup, but they dont work as well as the larger bullet style conn, good luck Shawn.

Thanks alot.....makes sense.i will be glad when the batteries get here so that I can get this boat on the water and see what it can do.Hope I dont sink it the first time out......already sunk two...
looks like I will be changing the connectors, because theres deans on everything now.So I will be ordering them tomorrow,it would be nice if there was a LHS store near by.Closet is 2 1/2 hrs away, not worth going that far so I will be ordering from OSE.I do hate soldering as I have grabbed the wrong end 4 times, think I would have learned the first time.
      Anyway,thanks again. AL

          Hey Love;
Hope no one gets the wrong idea when I call ya love,LOL.
I have done a fair amount of soldering, but being in a hurry burns.........like hell. Its just my carelessness and not looking at what I am grabbing;but I am getting better at not burning them.I will post some pics of the setup.I was on a tight budget for this boat but this winter I will be installing two 4074 leopard motors and two swordfish escs 200amp.Not sure what props yet, also will try with 5s and go from there.I will try to add some pics to my album.

            Advice appreciated

First post here so I better start with a small contribution

Buddy code for Turnigy Marine 180A ESC
            http://www.hobbyking.com/buddy.asp?c...B-F83AA13E1B97

Buddy code for HK-310 3 Channel 2.4ghz FHSS Ground Radio
            http://www.hobbyking.com/buddy.asp?c...E-81824CDBDDD2

Placed my order for the Genesis plus:

            Turnigy SK3 Fandrive - 3659-1900kv (90mm EDF)
            http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...dProduct=19110

            Turnigy Marine 180A ESC
            http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...idProduct=8937

+ radio (only surface radio I own is an old 2ch 27Mhz, too risky for these speeds I thought)

Choose the motor after seeing this review/test: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KteZYspriyE

I have loads of experience in RC , but am a rookie when it comes to boats.

Any thoughts or tips on (6s) battery setup and prop choice?
Would like to 'go' at least 63Mph / 100Km/hr
Temps in the above link seem to be quite cool, could I go to a 45dia prop?
            2x 3s in series or 2x6 parallel?

            @Dave1945:
I read your preferences leans towards M-series props instead of X-series for the Genesis,
The only difference I can see is the blade shape, the M's look de-tongued compared to X-series, right?

Thanks in advance, you guys seem very knowledgeable and I appreciate your opinion!

Oh, and forgot, yes I will upgrade to 3/16" shaft....

            Regards,GJ

              Hello Viper and welcome
First I think you choose the wrong source for review.I would never do a review where i flip the boat few times.
Also I would never recommend such a motor/setup.
Back to our problem, the motor has a rating of 1900KV therefore on 6S will = 42k rpm (even more with freshly charged lipo).
Unless you plan to do some SAW racing that way too much. You should aim for 25-30k rpm.
Then, if you want more speed you can prop up (watch the temps of course).
The most common upgrade for Genesis is Leopard motor,40mm series, 1600-2000 kv, depending on how many cells do you plan to run.
That motor is spinning ok props up to 45mm,if you want to go larger you need to replace the stock rudder.
If you want to goon the cheap way then you can try a T500:
              http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...er_1600KV.html
Regarding the batteries,be careful because there is not enough space to fit lipo more than 4S. 6S willl not fit therefore you can not run 2x on parallel.
But i think you can run 2x 4S in parallel with good results.
Also you can find tons of information if you search the forum as Genesis is one of the most discussed boat here.

OK, it's a 1900Kv motor running on 6S, so it's going to pull high very RPM's and potentially achieve +60 mph even with a M442 or M445 prop But it's only 36mm dia size. Seems too good to be true (which often unfortunately turns out to be the case). Or maybe I'm just a born sceptic.

Who actually manufactures this motor? Turnigy is just a HobbyKing rebrand name, isn't it?

                  Thanks Paul

Agreed, if it was me, I would have edited out the first part of the clip. :)
Near the end after the 're-balance' the speed is OK though, and on 6s the temperatures seem fine.
Motor is on its way anyway, so looking for something 'around' that.
Aiming for speed I mentioned above, not competition.
Yeah Leopard would be nice, but not in the budget.
Also I didn't want to replace the rudder, so I thought higher RPM wil keep the prop diameter down. Maybe wrong...
I fly turbines and jets as well so that's maybe why I choose the fan motor (looks like a good quality motor)

I might wait with purchasing the li-po's until I have the hull to see what fits.
Gives me time to go over the hardware and check cooling etc.
I have a set of 2x 4s 3000 laying around here, so might try that with stock motor first.

                  Thanks!

"Just" a Hobbyking motor, so that makes it per definition bad?

i run 2x6s 4900mah 25c RHINO from Hobbyking in parallel, they fit perfectly, Octura x442 is max i can use on Leopard 3674 1700kv, on x445 speed is slightly higher but ESC and motor overheats after 5-6 high passes, so i doubt ur 1900 will go better.

Thanks Maciek, I might try a 442 first to start with.
I am searching many forums about the Genesis and I'm not surprised the 2x6s fits :-)
I would prefer, -without knowing the drawbacks yet-, 2x 3s in series, as those packs would be more interchangeable with my planes.

I run 2x5s 5000's in mine on a leopard 2200kv, SF 200a esc on a M445 prop and runs in the mid 50's maybe more once i get it all tunned up..PS parallel 5000's give me a super long run time and after that everythings pritty worm but not overly hot..

I think the timming as at 11something and temps i havent taken a true reading yet, see i just repainted the hull and put it back together and now its raining like hell so hopefully ill get to test it some more tomorrow morrning but i have run it many runs like this, by the touch id say temps arond 80 to 90 maybe .
