The only thing I heard is they could use some reinforcement

I have seen the gel-coat flake loads on one of these but they may have improved by now. I was wondering if its worth a go myself.

Mr. Turd, I have only read of negative reviews of this brand of boat. My own suggestion based on my experience, is to go with FighteCats hulls, although in my opinion need re inforcing, which I do with any hull no matter where it comes from. With Ben (FighterCat) he does offer support and tips on set up (which you will get here, just the same). I used to have his 32" River Cat, that ran awesome at speed (low 80's on gps). So, with that said, Id go with www.fightercatracing.com for a fast cat if your looking for something in the size range of the R2 cat.

I have one in yellow gelcoat unbuilt still.

Yes it is a thin layup but, it's worlds better than H&M right now.

Ben at Fightercat has excellent hulls and you won't be disappointed there.

I'll still build mine but, not with mega power. Just enough to do 50mph or so as inexpensively as possible.

Great for a low budget build but, Ben's boats are allot tougher built than R2 hobbies.

Too bad because it has great dimensions.

I bought the Arowana version from R2. Its a cheap hull for sure, quite thin and i had to do some extra work on the wall separating the chamber. Not glued at all on the top it seemed... Found out in a bathtub test luckily. I got it just because it was cheap and i wanted something small and light to take under the arm and go have some quick fun with. Worked great so far. I built it to be cheap though with parts i don't mind getting wet if things go bad. Take it for what it is :) Boat runs fine at least!

Interesting point. Fightercat and R2 Hobbies hulls are from the same manufacturer... TFL Hobbies. Not sure why there would be any difference in them.

Buyer beware. R2 hobbies has some nice stuff but, if there are issues it's difficult to get a resolution.

That said, their price range should give you an indication of quality. If it's lower than all the rest, there is a reason.

I too have an Arowanna, it is not very thin but, if you think thats thin, the cat is thinner.

The arowanna looks well made, at least mine is. I've seen some impressive races with the Arowanna.

I would stick with Ben, he is picky with what he orders and doesn't accept crap from China, unless they trick him or lie.
