Yep, major carnage............ripped the whole bottom right off. I thought everything was ok til i got to the boat and only rescued the top portion and a bunch of noodles..........

From what's left of your boat, you'd be lucky get your motor back up with a magnet. NOTHING beats human eyes on the bottom. JIM

I read this thread and came up with this idea after thinking about trying to recover boats using: fish-finders, big rakes, divers, mermaids and what have you. I didn't "foam" the hull and cant fit noodles in there. So I made a buoy system. Lets say I torpedo the boat and the hatch flies off and the boat "swamps" with water. the buoy floats up, attached to 20ft of 80lb test fishing wire and spools out from the top of the film can. )the line is attached around the motor mount. So buoy floats up, and I get my boat back. I tested it in my pool before i installed it and it worked great. If it helps someone get their boat back from the murky abyss, I drink Jack Daniels

Yes they do, I hope my junk never sinks but it seems like a 'sound' idea... It only cost a few bucks to make so its worth a shot. Post some pics up of yours when its done. Maybe I can steal some of your ideas.

Recovered and re-used all the Hardware, the motor, flexdrive, collet, prop and motormount.................paid the diver 100 bucks for 10 minutes of work but recovered over 500 bucks worth!

If all else fails i think Jim's idea of the rope in the centre and doing circles is the only way to get it back. Unless, im thinking you say its only 6.5ft deep, and soft muddy... it could be 1ft under the mud or more...and no touch or sonar or rake is going to find it.
I too was thinking just like the real race top fuel drag boats, the boat crashes, is destroyed, the safety cell where the driver is may sink and he relies on oxygen tanks. the safety cell lets out an orange bouy and the recovery boat has that to know where the driver is. Same idea as written above with a small fishing float. Im planning on running in a dam so could need at least 100ft of line! Im 100% putting that idea in all my boats NOW. Thanks floatin turd.

I am thinking of attaching a few of these to future boats.
It may not look pretty but might save the boats if they take a dive as it works as soon as it gets submerged!.

My lake is 15foot deep at most and but the bottom is a couple feet of silt and mud, in fact I once tried standing in a shallow area and sank 2 foot very fast before pulling myself up on a branch
If my boat goes under I need something that will react fast else its bye bye boat.

The problem when you stuff a boat, (especially a mono) in shallow water is that they bury themselves in the mud and they can go quite deep into it.

A buddy and I had a diver go after our boats, both sunk in the same pond He used an underwater metal detector and found them both very quickly. The visibility was
pretty much none existent so the metal dectector seemed to be the best way.
