Great writeup Tony! I really appreciate all the help you gave me seting up my turtle bashing MISS GEICO & letting me sit in your tent's shade. This was my first ever NAMBA race. I came to beat the current S Offshore Catamaran record and I did. But my 58" elec conversion of a gas Segad hull at 72 + change MPH fell 10+ MPH short of Boyds new 82+ MPH record. DAMM! I could have done better on Sat. running the Leopard 5692 1340 but my Castle HYDRA ICE 200 HV smoked. (still wouldn't have beat Boyd - the guy is FAST). It was a pleasure to meet so many wonderful FE boaters. Everyone there went out of their way to help me with everything from setup advice to how to position & run my boats thru the SAW course. Special thanks to Mark & Kim Grim (great chow Kim), and to Daren Jordan - who designed the MISS GEICO Hull for ProBoat - for post turtle hull repair advice. Here were my setups: 58" SEGAD OFFSHORE CAT; LEOPARD 5692 1090KV, DRAGON RED 4500 mAh 8S2P Batts; OCTURA X 462 Prop; and (RIP) Castle HYDRA ICE 200 HV ESC. 28" ProBoat MISS GEICO hull & drive; Leopard 4870 2200 KV motor & H2O jacket; stock SEAKING 180A ESC; and Octura X646-3 prop. I really missed seeing you and the rest of the group. But I realized last time I was down there that if I did not have the funds I was better off staying home and not torturing my self and others. Real close to boring staying home!

I just took a quick look at the data off the schulze from the s mono record run:

For my 8s2p set-up i was pulling 420-470a through the lights with a battery voltage pulling down to 27.5v with rpm just over 24k. A quick calc shows 450ax27.5v=12, 375w! Or 16.6hp. Drive shaft torture to the fullest.

                  Hey Tony,

You got the gift with a pen my friend....great summary.

Can't believe how awesome the whole crew/event was and Brian did the same thing for me, put the magic touch to my blades allowing me to break his own P Mono record....that is a class act if I ever SAWS it

Oh, one other thing…..you forgot to mention one of the best aspects of the event…being in the presence of the magical FE ambassador himself ……YOU

What a wonderful weekend! It was great to be back at SAW racing after three years off. I had good racing luck this year ( http://forums.offshoreelectrics.com/...391#post364391 ), but really the best part is the people. Seeing my old friends after a long hiatus was super, and meeting new boaters was just as much fun. SAW racing is a demanding and frustrating sport, but everyone there kept a good attitude. The helpfulness displayed by everyone is always great to see and is one of the differences I see between oval and SAW racing.

Tony, it was so good to see you again! Thanks for helping to get my support stuff arranged, the tent, table and chair saved the day for this long distance traveler. And your Drifter was flying!

As always, Mark Grim ran the event smoothly and fairly (and Kim's lunches really were outstanding!). BTW, for those of you who are NAMBA members and have not voted yet, unless you want more drama and political dirty tricks I'd vote for Mark for President. He's a straight shooter without drama, has always supported FE racers, and he has a very positive vision for the organization.
