    Graupner Speed 700 Race 9.6v

    Hi,

I am using the moter listed below in a jet sprint hull with a Graupner jet drive. I am wondering if anyone knows how many amps it can handle before meltdown?... I have been running it on 7.2 volts as i havent gotten my new ESC for it yet. Goes alright on 7.2v's but as expected it should go faster... Just wondering f anyone knows if this motor will handle 12v? Due to where the battery needs to be placed it would be better if i had two 6v packs or even if only would take 9.6 two 4.8v packs so i could balance the weight out, with a battery either side of the jet unit.

I dont seem to be able to find out much about this motor, so any info would be good.

      Thanks,

I just noticed that the ESC i have brought will only support up to 10 cells.... is a pity... will just run it on 12v and see what it goes like...

I've run the 9.6v motor on 16 cells. If you increase the cell count (and therefore the voltage), reduce the prop size to keep the current draw below 30-35 amps. It's not the voltage that kills the BB Turbo, but the amps drawn and the consequent heat build-up. If you haven't already done so, fit some watercooling to the motor.

I was lucky and picked one up really cheap 2nd hand and it looks it.. very rough, but I hear the mould they used has been destroyed... I know of a place in australia that makes them for the gas motors so are about 100cm long... and for use with a sikk or zen... go really well

there is one for sale on the New Zealand version of Ebay, links below... not cheap tho... is ready to run with a nitro motor in it.
