    motor bearings

is it worth upgrading the stock motor bearings such as those from BOCA on a stock motor or upgrade to a better motor?? most manufacturers are cost conscious when it comes to materials in there products!!If u have a good running stock motor and for under 20 bucks it seems logical that you would upgrade the bearings first before you upgrade the motor..anyone upgrade there bearings??? the reason why i am asking is my father in law ran his sv27 with the boca bearings today and his boat seamed to run a lot faster after he did the bearing upgrade..sorry he was in a hurry to try his boat out and we did not put the gps in it..

It totally depends on the set up you plan on running. Is this for a particular set up or just a general question? If you push the limits of your components then you might want to upgrade them, IF you can afford it.

The top notch motors already have the premium bearings in them..........Neu's, Lehners etc................even the new 4 pole mid grade motors have decent bearing in them......Leopards etc....... Doesnt really make alot of sense to buy a cheapy 2 pole and upgrade............but it can and has been done.

He! He! I run a few of those cheapy 2 pole 7Xl 8Xl & 9Xl FSD motors & haven't had to replace any bearings yet. I have, however, had to replace a flogged out set of bearings in a Feigao 8Xl & an SV 27 motor. Not faulty bearings though, just old age.

I'd leave the bearings in the motor until you've done all your setup testing & prop testing etc.
Once you are happy with the handling & performance of the boat then make a decision as to whether you need to replace the bearings.
A drop of light machine oil on each bearing at the start of each day's running & they will serve you well.
        Cheers.
        Paul.

I think in your case is better to put thrust bearring.
Most of the bearings are 40.000 tops.
This is what i'm doing to the cheepos and it's efective
