He's posting a warning about not using the Hydra ICE 240. He was using 6S in a smaller hull, Mean Machine, with a 42mm prop. Certainly not a system that should smoke that ESC. His last comment about dont bother using an expensive ESC was his way of offering advice.

Sorry to hear about the fire Gaby. There have some others posting the same concern about the Hydra ICE ESC. I seem to remember there was an issue with the controller not having the right caps installed.

6s1p or 6s2p? What lipo batteries were used? Weak lipos will kill esc. Along with lots of stop and go driving will cause large amp spikes.

Was the LVC (low voltage cutoff) set correctly?

The single 6s1p Turdigy battery was probably not enough output. I would have used 6s2p.

Check the capacitors on the ESC, some were mistakingly equipped with low voltage caps from what I understand. I haven't ran the hydra Ice but I have ran a few of the regular ICE controllers and have put them through hell. The air ones are very dependable for me!
