Also, I contacted Jim Williams and he does make a Water jacket and a 5" rail mount for the 2028. Will be placing an order today. I'd like to order the hardware but still not sure what lenth the stinger strut should be....Going with the 1/4" cable and prop shaft, but not sure if the drive Steve sell here will be long enough....Any thoughts guys?

      I have this one.

I got mine from HOR Racing however they no longer list them.

Very substantial. My first of this type and will be going on the 50" arrow shark mono I listed here earlier.

I have speedmaster and some other gas stuff in the past. I really like this design. The stinger is threaded and you can extend the length by turning it counter clockwise. Will extend to I think 100mm. Cable that comes with this is top shelf also, ie has the brass weave threads in it. I will however chunk the teflon tubing

Once again thanks for the info. So now I know I need at least a 4" stinger strut. Just making a list and going on a spending spree tonight.

If you are going to use the stinger I gave you the link to get a 5" strut not the 4".

I just measured mine out all the way and from the back of the mounting plate to the outer edge of the stinger is 5 1/4 ". Now if you allow for the spacing between the stinger for shaft flex of 1/4", the thickness of a drive dog, the thickness of a decent sized prop you r looking at 6" the leading edge of the prop which is were you want the leading edge of the rudder too. Screwed in all the way you need a 5" backset on the leading edge of the rudder.

Wow 6'', you wouldn't happen to have one to sell? Noticed the link of the stinger you gave me was out of the country Do you know of any thats in the states?....I really hate to wait a month for just a stinger to arrive.

                  and this...http://www.horracing.com/product_inf...roducts_id=144

Sounds like I should just go with a 6" rudder extension bracket, correct?....I know HOR is out of the country but there shipping says 6-12 days with isn't bad.

You know I cannot say with regard to the 2 stingers u r considering. The only experience I have is with the speedmaster on a apache and it was the shorter one they make. Worked fine and I did not need a 6" extension with it. Appears to be a matter of preference. Either will do just fine. Just don't use a tapered rudder blade!!

Ordered the Castle 2028 Motor, Motor Mount, Water Jacket, Flex Cable, Rudder W/ 5" bracket. Called Ron at Rossie Sales and ordered a SpeedMaster 1/4" stinger. He informed me the 1/4" flex cable turned down to a .187 prop shaft I ordered from steve will work, but I just dont see how it will....I think the prop shaft will be flopping around in the Stinger since its a larger O.D, can someone steer me straight.

Don't want to hurt anyone's feelings but the torque associated with a boat 56" long weighing 14+ lbs, on the end of a quarter inch flex cable stepped down the fightercat stinger is in my view not up to it.

why not get a 1/4" stinger. The stepped down area on the cable is for the drive dog area and out. I don't get what u r concerned about????????

Edited my last post, I agree that stinger probable will not hold up. Nothing against Ben.

What I am planning on is using a strut and a ferrule that accepts a 1/4in flex shaft and a 3/16 prop shaft. I have done this a few times with sport gassers since the less powerful weedeaters would use smaller props with 3/16" hubs and if the flex breaks the prop shaft won't come out.
                                Kind of like this.. http://www.gravesrc.com/OCTOCFSF616_...ctocfsf616.htm

The stingers are much cleaner looking tho and would go that way if I didn't have the parts laying around at home already.
