Since I have both here, I'll get some side by side photos. I'll also ask TFL if they make this hull. The hardware is clearly of less quality than the other TFL items I've seen.FighterCatRacing Team CHING BLING - Ching Bling. Brilliant, Advanced Sparkle for your hull.Comment

OK, I can CONFIRM, the Vanquish is NOT a TFL hobby product. It is a cheap knock off of the Osprey which is a knock off of the DF 41.
The parts quality, fiberglass work and assembly are nowhere the quality of the Osprey, which is of good quality.
Wow. It's clearly an exact clone. Not even 10%, an exact fiberglass clone.
TFL uses a numbering system inside their hulls. The Vanquish does not have these markings. TFL also has nice finished aluminum hardware, where the Vanquish has rough castings of similar parts. Everything about the Vanquish & hardware screams cheap clone.
Doesn't mean it won't work. I'm using mine for a salt water sport setup, so it's perfect for the job. Check out the rough surface on the turn fins and the plating flaking off the new coupler... Yikes!
The Osprey has properly mounted trim tabs and strut. Still has the stuffing tube gap problem, but at least it isn't mounted too low. Also the stuffing tube on the Vanquish is kinked. Ack!FighterCatRacing Team CHING BLING - Ching Bling. Brilliant, Advanced Sparkle for your hull.Comment

RPMS are a little low on 6s. 7 or 8s may work better for ya. Just my 2 cents.Comment

Just recieved my Vanquish today, On mine the trim tabs were slightly above the bottom surface of the hull by 1.5-2mm, which is good, the one is touching the rudder mount though, but should be fine. As for the stinger it is FLUSH with the bottom of the hull. I am going to raise it a couple mm's. should be simple. As for the boat it looks great, although the fiberglass is piss thin, it will be getting a couple layers of fiberglass immediately. I dont see it nessasary to reinforce the transom as it has a ply layer and seems to be good and solid. Pretty sure a 1717 would snap right outta this hull if someone were to try and run it without adding extra glass or CF, lol
I'm starting with 1717, T180 6s, m447, just purchased an eagle tree 150a from ose so will be able to push this setup to its limits which i have no problem doing as i've had nothing but good luck with the T180's so far.
Oh an dalmost forgot, as Diesel said, this thing is huge!!Comment

Finally finished this POS.. Ran into ANOTHER problem. Heads up don't use the stock coupler. That thing is so freaking untrue it's not funny. I spun the shaft by hand and I could see the coupler wobble and I could see the stuffing tube moving. I swapped couplers and all was good. Maiden tomorrow is weather is good.
* Ignore my terrible looking FG job, looks like hell but strong like bull lol...Last edited by Diesel6401; 04-10-2011, 11:10 PM.Comment

Gonna go with 6s2p using the Blue Lipo's from Hobbypartz. Never used them before but heard they work good. One thing I don't like already with them is the small gauge battery wire.Comment

have you thought about the 6s long lipos? They are 3s & 3s longways, so lay pretty flat and are low and even. I'm thinking about going that route for 6s2p as well.FighterCatRacing Team CHING BLING - Ching Bling. Brilliant, Advanced Sparkle for your hull.Comment
