    Who races 1/8 scales

I know the NW clubs have 1/6 & 1/7 scales but what clubs race 1/8 scales? Is it even a class yet? Are the batt. and motors fixed like in the NW or are they unlimited?

Gary, the FE 1/8th scales are relatively new everywhere as far as trying to get something established. A proposal is on the table with IMPBA right now, and D12 hopes to run them this coming year. Are main goal at the moment is the keep the big 22 series NEU's out of the running by limiting mah maximums. That way all the other motors that basically can run on 1p setups can thrive. Neu' 1521 and 1527, Leopard 5092's maybe even the 1717 castle or 2028 castle, and of course the others people have tried that work! You ready for the 108 frame yet? Mike

      1/8 scale

I'm ready but I guess the class isn't ready. I am in Az. Dist. 19. The 1/10 scales are going to be introduced this year. I was hoping with all the frames you offer the class would spread faster. I wonder why 1/8 scales haven't caught on faster. With your frame kits and Rc Boat Com. cowls it would be much easier to build an 1/8 scale. It is a wonder. Mike, I know I probably have ask you this before, does the kit come with the skin?

I ran one of our Dist Scale Director's Scales at out first race this season. I can tell you that there is one in my future.
I'm really glad that people are looking at FE setups that are comparable to the nitro scales.
Let's get em in the pond, all of em!!

            That wont do it.

We're trying to get some scales together up here again too. D2 has a number of guys that have them or are building them.

The scales are so cool. I'm partial to the turbine style just because they look so much like the real thing as you spool them up from a dead stop. The way they climb up on top of the water like the real thing. Plus they're floating works of art.

We're working on them up here in the PNW. Some are building them to run head to head with nitro in RCU. Lots of us are building them with the intent of running NAMBA FE rules with a motor restriction (2-3 motor choices).

It's going to be fun one way or the other.

1/10 scale is a kick. 1/8 scale is just going to be bigger and faster.

That's great Brian, coming from the PNW and moving South it seems to be a trickle down syndrome when concerns FE hydroplanes. 1/10 scales are taking root but binging of an advanced age I can see a bigger boat a little better. LOL I like the idea of motor restrictions.

Gary, I do not really offer skin kits at the present. Due to the lack of time to build all the hydros I do frames for, I cannot make the skins unless I build one myself! Hope that is not a deterrent! I am working to finish up the 108 plans asap. Just received a payment for one actually, so I have to get it knocked out. One more thing to add to the outside sponson and they will be wrapped up. Take care, Mike

Brian, do you have an idea when the new rules will be established? I have purchased a Scorpion 4035 800kv because that is what the 1/6 scales run up there. I have been told I am going to receive resistance from the establishment in Dist 19. I think if rules that limit motor size that are equal to the .67 nitros and that the FE must mill will help the nitro guys accept FE. Also if the boat rolls or subs, but keeps going, it would be called DF. It only seems logical that the hard core nitro guys would embrace FE to run with since nitro is dying out. But we do not live in a logical world.
I am not sure who to talk to in Dist 19 that might be a friendly ear in Dist 19. Astablished rules would help to promote the class however.
