The couplers at FineDesign come in 8mm and 10mm.
Help, need motor couplers...

yeah, not easy to make, especially considering they have to spin at 30k!
two options, make a busing to go from 6mm up to 10mm
Or just go with a set screw coupler
Or wait and buy the collet coupler when they are restocked. (prefered) this is the third of two options....
The 6mm is smaller than the 1/4" broach hole, or the pilot on a 1/4" broach.
Mark, still like your avatar. Thought about the gatling gun at one time, but I ended up going the belt fed route instead. If it ain't belt fed, it's still hungry!

How do the set screw couplers hold up? I'm sure I would have to make a flat spot on the flex shaft so the set screws would have something to jam on.
I'm not sure how long I want to wait. Thing is I really can't do much without them, I would be stopped at the stuffing tubes. I can't make motor mounts or install the tubes without knowing exactly where the flex shaft will stop.
I also thought about just ordering the 8mm or 10mm square ends from FD and hoping I can come up with a bushing.Comment

I'm screwed on this build until some 6mm X .250 couplers surface.Comment

I have made my own couplers too.
I use set screws and never had a problem. Of course I do it with 9 set screws.
Made my own so far...Attached FilesNortavlag Bulc

I'm going to try them out. If it works I will have the perfect system. I got the 8mm X .250 couplers from OSE and from Bonzi I got counter rotating flex cables with square ends. Then I got the square insert for the couplers.
The way these MHZ drives are you don't need the collet to hold the shaft in. The flex cable is soldered into the prop shaft and the prop shaft can't come out without disassembling the drive.Comment

Then wouldn't that problem also exist if I was able to find 6mm couplers for these motors?

Give what you have a runn it may be just fine.
For me I like a transition or even a very, very slight interference fit. Some I have made need alot of force to go on or off, but they run smooth, 40K smooth.Nortavlag Bulc
