Something with your setup is still off here. Your boat should be plenty fast with the 9xl.

Did you try going pos. (up) from 0 with the stinger in small adjustments? Did you make sure there is a 1/8"-3/16" gap between your drive dog and stinger like Rumdog suggested? In your pics. it looks like it is touching your stinger.

in the pic the drive dog is touching but I have corrected that so I have the 1/8 req'd as per normal. It is odd I find that when I adjust the prop upwards it sounds like the prop is spinning half air half water and not much speed, but when I drop it 2 deg down from neutral it goes better wetter.I am confused also where to keep the batteries in this everyone says far back but I have seen setups in front of the motor side by side which would make me want to change the stinger angle as well to compensate back...this thing is pissin me off I agree that a 9xl should be tossin her around...arrrgh.I wish I had a baseline here lol maybe

Battery placement depends on where your COG is. Sometimes you need to run them forward more and sometimes you need to run them rearwards.

Are you sure you understand COG correctly?

Is this a DF or a knockoff? Does it measure 29.5"

yes Im in hamilton.ya cog is a percentage of the actual length of the hull usually from the transom measured forward and is the point of balance for the hull. The hull is a genuine df29 for sure yes.the previous owner had this thing runnin 6s and now Im runnin 4s so maybe I expected too much of it? he had markings I guess for cog at 25%,30% and 33% so I dont know if that affects stinger angle as well because if I add weight forward it will bring more of the prop out of the water ...correct ? causing the boat to run more wet.Ya the closest boat guys to me are doby and lipo power out at their pond in kitchener.....I may ask one of them to help me before things freeze

If that is the original motor, replace it with a new 9XL and talk to Doby he knows FE boating, even, if he is from Ontario...his saving grace is he does not live in Toronto (the centre of the universe)

The trim tabs in the first shot are way too low on the hull. Raise them up a 1/16" to 1/8" from the bottom of the hull. Run them neutral and adjust a little down at a time.

ps swing back or up your left turn fin too.
