I am keen to twin the big cat. 30" wet hull so about the same size as the ekos
Currently has a 9XL with a 200A mystery esc(watercooled) running 5S 4500 30-40C pack to a 440/3 prop for mid-high 40's mph short duration runs. Semi-saw is what I do.
I have been reading all sorts over the last week and figure 36-56 or L size inrunners may be the go here. They will fit with water cooling so that is one problem solved. I see many run 380-XL motors in the ekos due to space restrictions and get to run 40mm props with ease.
I am keen to with a 14L 1755kv motor on the same 5S (3S+2S) pack that I have at the moment. I figure I have about 130A to play with in total.
Here is where I have being doing a lot of reading and useing FE calc to help me estimate possible loads.
FeC shows the 9XL at 29krpm, 103A and 1700W for 49mph on the 440/3 prop. My eye and finger say that is probably close to the truth.
FeC shows a 14L at 27 krpm, 77A and 1300W for 45mph on a 440 prop.
Now we know there are many variable and that FeC is a good tool for estimating setups and helping choose parts. I have been using it for a few years and it helps me a lot. The big problem is that there is no way working out how a twin setup works.
Here is my estimate.
I think / hope the twin setup will help each motor unload and spin up better. This will increase the speed and reduce the A & W figures.
If so and I can get each motor (on a K40mm carbon) down to say 65A on 100A esc's then I will be away laughing.
Thoughts anyone ?
