Curious about the two. It seems there's always some water coming in, even if just slight amounts.
I cut sections from a 2" deep sponge and lined them up in the belly of the sponsons up against the inside of the transom. It's about 5" x 2" of sponge and I can usually squeeze it out after a few runs. It does keep the water from running around the boat.
I've been thinking about adding a sponge in the center of the nose cowl as an added measure in case of capsize, but not sure.
Currently I'm using pipe insulation to fill the fore sponson bellies. It's large enough to take up quite a bit of room and seems quite buoyant. About like a "pool noodle".
