Perk of Living in Seattle Area

Was out buying some pool noodles for floatation yesterday, and as I was leaving the parking lot of the Walmart in Renton (I know... I took my life into my own hands going there, AND they didn't even have what I was looking for!)... I found this sitting in the parking lot of one of the local restaraunts...

    Made my afternoon...

If I would have been driving the Tahoe... I'd have considered it! I didn't see a lock on the hitch!

This is one of the hulls used to film the movie "Madison", as well... In fact, I think this one WAS the "Miss Madison" for the film...

It's stored at the Hydro Museum just down the road from my house... (about 20-minutes away down in Kent)....

The Thunder Boats are going to be out this weekend on Lake Washington. Saw them getting setup up last night on King 5. Should be a sweet!

...and the privilege of living near Stan Sayres' Park/Pits is I always know when they're testing.
They had the Oberto and the Thriftway out on the water yesterday. Jim Clark is usually down there (I couldn't actually go to the dock yesterday), he's probably got some shots.

Nothing quite like working on boats with the roar of the vintage hydros filling up the local air...

Sweet! I gotta know..... Why are they driving such fast boats in a seated position as if it were a friggin tractor?

Very cool stuff. I wonder what its like sitting that high and listening to the wonderful sound of the engine. Must be quite exhilarating!

                    and No SEATBELT!

I heard one of the drivers say he's had the Thriftway to 150, but had a hard time holding on. Exhilerating? yeah!

                    Thanks for sharing Jim.

Darin - That is the Scariest store in the PNW. Great fishing gear selection, but I always feel like I should wear a respirator in there...you are brave. BTW - my source for Pool noodles are Aquaquip and seasonally at Fred Meyer.

Thanks... I was able to find them at Target, and they were the thinner ones, so it all worked out.

Like driving an open top P-51 mustang on the water with no seatbelt.

Big nuts is what it takes I guess.

It feels like one has entered "gangland" when you go in there... people hanging out in the parking lot with their pants down around their knees, etc... It's just a different experience than going into other Walmarts. Very well known around here for that kind of stuff. There has been a lot of trouble there, including a shooting recently.
