That on the 2075kv, 3674 motor, Basically the specs of an 8XL, is perfect. HOWEVER, the spec notes say its a 3S boat, more than likely because of the ESC. At 105A controller, 4S on an 8Xl in a 40+ inch cat, Id imagine nothing but the ESC to eventually fail? My experiences show that it doesnt have to get hot to spike at high Amperage draws. And if you were running it in chop, that props constantly winding out and then loading hard on re-entry. I understand why the 4S though, 3S on that motor would be BORING. So it seems although it ran at decent speeds out of the box, the configuration of the 4S is just too much. Thats what I get out of it anyway. Kinda sux they didnt include it w/ at least a 120A.. and even at that, it would be at its limits.

So, purchase some boats, bulk buy some el cheapo but reliable Turnigy 180A escs, include those with the boat for the additional cost of the esc and its still a heck of a deal for that size boat w/ hardware! I know, I know, its not realistic.. but a thought anyway.

Seems these companies are sometimes close to where it needs to be, but then throw in some unrealistic rated item that screws up the whole package.

Oh well, what can you do... heck, its a boat.. its supposed to cost you everything you have! This one cost me 299 shipped... Yup, I got one. You had to post the vid didnt you Steven?!?!? I already planned on changing out the ESC specifically for 4S running purposes.

I'm pretty sure it spec'd at 3s because when they first email'd us they were including a 2800 kv motor(aprox) in it. I requested the 2075kv motor.

I got the new esc in it yesterday. After some more time on it, the motor is now dead. The boat is good for the hull and hardware. I will be removing the stock motor and also the rear motor carrier and installing a Neu Castle Motor to give it a real power plant.

That stinks. What brand motor came in it, any ideas?

As for the 3S - 4S, I was refering more to the ESC at 105 not rated for it, not the 2075 motor. On HKs site, they spec it 3S w/ the 2075 motor on a 105A esc, that was the reason for my "not a good idea on 4S" comment.

Cant wait to see how she runs w/ the new power. Sounds like its gunna be very nice.

Oh and I got the LVC in the mail today Steven. Thank you for a quick turn around

Its a fsd motor. I agree that it will be a better 3s boat. But at a huge speed cost. It will be lucky to hit 25mph on 3s. Not exactly a fun boat at that speed.

That was exactly my thought. Again, its a shame a company gets so close to putting out a decent RTR and then screws up one part of it that ends up screwing up everything.... Other than paint though, hull quality is good? As for the drive hrdwr, is it the same hrdwr you sell that most put on thier HOTRs and BlackJacks? Or is it a little bigger?

On suggestions from you guys I increased the thickness of the linkage rod. BINGO!!! Thanks OZZIE!!!

But on my third set of lipo's I ran(thats 3 packs total), I blew my esc. Thats after about 30 seconds on the 3rd set of packs. This esc was never overheated or abused. My thoughts about this boat. Its a good hull and hardware setup. But its not a rtr. It will take some money and work to get it right.

                  The positives.
                  Its pretty.

                  hardware is nice.

                  Motor seems ok(so far).

                  Performs well.

                  The minuses.
                  Paint comes off easy.
Hobby Wing ESC isn't enough amperage.
                  Linkage problems.
EVERYTHING is glued poorly and needs to be re-glued and strengthened with fiberglass cloth.

I hope to get it out again today, if i get some time to setup another esc.

I will not carry them as a rtr. Its not a fair thing to do to a newbie customer. I an order them for a customer if someone understands the issues and wants one.
I will probably get a couple to keep at the shop for guys that read this. I should have them in a couple of weeks. The price will be about $250.00. but I will have the exact price once I figure out shipping for a few of them.

May I ask what size servo rod did you use, and where may I purchase one from. Also since hobbycity/hobbyking as come out with some many boats is their any chance of starting a general section for them on the forum? Thank you in advance.

On a side note YouTube trashes the quality of the video on upload. Anyone have any tips on getting better quality of video to stream on YouTube?

Did you change the video quality setting in the bottom right corner to 1080p (HD) during play back?

It was an upload problem. I was doing a single click upload from the sony camera to youtube. It comes out better if I upload the click instead.

anything more than 360P and it becomes a series of still shots only. For me, anyway.
