is this the same boat as the one recently added to hobbyking?

      i ordered an "Apparition" http://hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store...in_Hull_(800mm)

      and i also have a piranha : http://hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store.../C_Boat_(670mm)

i replaced the esc n the piranha with a different one, as it had no reverse, as was reaching LVC at 2600mah on a 5000mah pack. upon removing the esc, i thought ide take the watercooling plate off of it, and what'd'ya know, it has the TFL hobby logo on it...
but the tfl site doesnt have the piranha listed.

          amps

So 33-34 stock, 38-39 with better props. Do you have any idea of what the amperage was?

Was the video you show of the stock props or modified?

          thank you,

          Brian

              The video was stock.

I tried another video hosting site, but I think youtube may be better.
Here is a link to the smugmug video, same as the youtube video. Tell me what you think.

                    Steven,
When you process the video, save it as a .wmv and then post to youtube. I have gotten the best quality that way. Also, don't save it as the smallest file!

TFL supplies just what the buyer asks for. In order to keep the price down, I have seen that smaller, lesser quality motors and esc's are used for that purpose. Also they might have the dreaded square shaft.

I believe what Steven has is superior to the one from Hobbyking! Besides, if it arrives broken, it will cost you a FORTUNE to send it back and I assure you will NOT get any tech support from Hobbyking! Pay a little more, buy it from OSE!

                            More on the testing.

On suggestions from you guys I increased the thickness of the linkage rod. BINGO!!! Thanks OZZIE!!!

But on my third set of lipo's I ran(thats 3 packs total), I blew my esc. Thats after about 30 seconds on the 3rd set of packs. This esc was never overheated or abused. My thoughts about this boat. Its a good hull and hardware setup. But its not a rtr. It will take some money and work to get it right.

                            The positives.
                            Its pretty.

                            hardware is nice.

                            Motor seems ok(so far).

                            Performs well.

                            The minuses.
                            Paint comes off easy.
Hobby Wing ESC isn't enough amperage.
                            Linkage problems.
EVERYTHING is glued poorly and needs to be re-glued and strengthened with fiberglass cloth.

I hope to get it out again today, if i get some time to setup another esc.

I will not carry them as a rtr. Its not a fair thing to do to a newbie customer. I an order them for a customer if someone understands the issues and wants one.
I will probably get a couple to keep at the shop for guys that read this. I should have them in a couple of weeks. The price will be about $250.00. but I will have the exact price once I figure out shipping for a few of them.

Hey Steven, just some thoughts, opinions etc. In your first post you stated that you ran it on 2S packs. Im guessing in a 4S configuration. That on the 2075kv, 3674 motor, Basically the specs of an 8XL, is perfect. HOWEVER, the spec notes say its a 3S boat, more than likely because of the ESC. At 105A controller, 4S on an 8Xl in a 40+ inch cat, Id imagine nothing but the ESC to eventually fail? My experiences show that it doesnt have to get hot to spike at high Amperage draws. And if you were running it in chop, that props constantly winding out and then loading hard on re-entry. I understand why the 4S though, 3S on that motor would be BORING. So it seems although it ran at decent speeds out of the box, the configuration of the 4S is just too much. Thats what I get out of it anyway. Kinda sux they didnt include it w/ at least a 120A.. and even at that, it would be at its limits.

So, purchase some boats, bulk buy some el cheapo but reliable Turnigy 180A escs, include those with the boat for the additional cost of the esc and its still a heck of a deal for that size boat w/ hardware! I know, I know, its not realistic.. but a thought anyway.

Seems these companies are sometimes close to where it needs to be, but then throw in some unrealistic rated item that screws up the whole package.

Oh well, what can you do... heck, its a boat.. its supposed to cost you everything you have! This one cost me 299 shipped... Yup, I got one. You had to post the vid didnt you Steven?!?!? I already planned on changing out the ESC specifically for 4S running purposes.

The ESC looks similar to the one sold by HOR.......

Had the same (bad) experience as Steven when the ESC just stopped working on the third run at the lake. I was using two 6nimh battery packs.

There was no sign of damage or burnt on the ESC. It just stopped working Did test everything else in the boat and they were fine.

That ESC is a big waste of money and look amateurish the way it is shrink wrap and silicone badly applied on the sides...... Be careful......
