Its scary for any boat really. 70 is fast but its no way near unreasonable in a properly trimmed hull. This 40 inch Andy Brown Mongoose owned buy Curtis Samuel and built buy Ken Stone of o.k.c model boat club ran 70's 20 years ago. Some of these guys on here were kids then. This hull in particular won third in the nats in kansas back in the mid nineties. Some of the older guys 40+ might know Kenny Stone. He served in nam as a jet engine tech.He flies 100cc planes now.60 plus years of daily modeling experience is hard to argue with. Plus I saw these and the texas guys run with my own eyes . Their boats screamed. I tell you what ask Andy Brown the founder of cdmi. Yeah now tell me they build junk!I would not lie to you about this stuff. This guys 70yrs old and I promise you he'll blow alot of you guys away with speed and driving. Im not underestimating anyone . Anyone can have their hat handed to them Im just saying If its an rc model hes had it mastered it and went on to the next level. Think about it 20 years ago. Now you know the sport isnt hasnt gone backward. this hull was 2 generations before the eagle sgx i think.Im gonna try a x1750 on the kb in a speed run @12s and see what happens. The oval prop I have is an x 457; Ill run that @ 10s lipo.I may even use this hull as a test bench for the kb cause the scale isnt ready for paint yet. When I get the motor I could just slap it in this hull.Id rather have a 1400 or 1600 series prop for it though. How much to get my props sharpened and balanced: x432,x642,x457,and I need a shapened and balanced x1750 and maybe a 1455

If i was going to build an FE scale from the bottom id probaby go with a Finlay based 1980 U-2
              Squire shop.

1000XL on a 50" cat, now that i think about it it ran for about 60 seconds at ~30 mph running dual5s in parralell, I brought it in and it was rather hot 150 degrees F.

I had a 2300 L that i tried earlier, 10S is what went poof in 20 seconds.... i really didnt know what i was doing at all just trying stuff..

Im not running a 11 turn im running a 17 turn. Im not saying youre wrong but that 11 turn is too hot @ 12s maybe 6 or 7s on a prop that size. Whatever you do a prop pulls less in its sweet spot if I can call it that. For 50-60 mm props that rpm range seems to like between 20 and 26k.I could be wrong just an estimate. Why it take you so long to chime in if you got real world data?I needed you my friend lol.

Was your kb an amp hog? Did it have balance issues. What did you do with the burnt up motor?

10s on a 2300 kv motor? You know thats 85K rpm rite? That thing probably wanted no more than 3s; That would have put you at 25,530 rpm you may have been able run that 50 mm with no issue. With the low voltage though youre possiblly inviting more amps into the party. Is there a prop in our selection that would ever want to see 85k rpm?Naw I doubt it is. 25k more rpm and you were approaching the speed of sound at your collet. 110,000 rpm;yeah I think thats close to the speed of sound.

1000kv at 18.5 volts may still be a little much for a 50 mm prop especially on a big 50 inch puppy.I got the motors on the way so Im rushing to seal the hull, so I can put it in the water.

What is your point? You ask questions on this forum. Then you like to tell everyone that they're ignorant. Maybe then you should go on some nitro or gas forums for your FE info. What FE boat experience do YOU have? Who cares if you know of A 70 year old man who builds fast boats and races them. You are asking the questions and answering them yourself. On a side note, do you really think that Fluid's comment was meant to be racist? Do you think he knew you were African American, therefore called you Buckwheat? Seriously? If you don't like other's input, then don't ask.

yah like i said i had no idea what i was doing... i guess you could run a kb 600kv at 37V ... use the xl... those motors are not very efficient and get real hot even just spooling it up in your hand.they are balanced pretty well, no vibration when you spool it up by its self. I had only bought 2 of em and that's my exp with em.
