Me if i was to build the HOTR cat I would probably use do twins and use 2X Fiegao 540's size motors on 5000mah 2s1p each.. use the HK super simple 100a ESC's....KV would be dependant on available left and right rotation propsComment

Twins as suggested above is quite a boat to have, but costs obviously are (times 2). Even using inexpensive equipment they are expensive to build. You could by 3 RTR Apparitions and parts to mod one for what it took to build my twin. And I kept it pretty low budget.Comment

Don't know if you can put twin outdrives on this one since the overhang would block adjustment possibly.
Steve could tell if it will fit an SV strut or similar...Nortavlag Bulc

I drill these struts out to 1/4" and put in lead teflon, $17 each Delivered.
Rudder is $30 + a little more shipping.
Then you need 2 cables counter rotating, 2 x Turnigy typhoon's @ 25 each
2 x SS esc's 100 amps $25 each. I dunno, it can be done reasonably.
A pair ow L&R carbon props 42mm + @ $7 each...
I'm Dutch Canadian, they don't come any tighter than that, lol... pinch a penny til' it farts...Nortavlag Bulc

ya i was wanting to go with something under 300 without batts. i still race offroad and that eats up most of my money. i just wanted something non gas or nitro to take to the lake when we go rock crawling. something mid 30's or above. any ideas besides the app? is the blacjack any good?Comment

The BJ is a good hull once set up properly. The steerable drive has its faults. I have one and have never got around to modding it. OSE sells a strut/ rudder system that many are having great luck with and greatly improving its handling characteristics. In a straight line, on the stock set up, it is a great boat. Turning, as I said, needs some help.Comment

I never GPSd it, but 40-42 is what most got w/ a S&B Octura 642.Comment
