    My rescue boat

    Hey Diego,

I have made a couple more improvements to my PVC rescue boat that was originally based on your old rescue boat. It now has a lift mechanism that lifts a stranded RC boat above the water for a safe return to shore.
I plan on creating a build thread when I finish a few small details on it. The basic idea is that I use a 1/4 scale high torque servo that is rated a 21lbs of force at 1inch to lower a metal basket below a stranded boat and winch it vertically out of the water. I have tested it with a 10lb can of nuts and bolts and I was able to lift it 20 inches and hold it up. I will provide more details in the build thread when I have a chance to start it. The electronics took a little while to figure out but in the end I was happy with the results. Here are some pics.

So the 1/4 servo spins that PVC pipe which spools up the monofiliment line lifting the platform?
          Pretty cool!!

            You got it right.
It is amazing how powerful that servo is on 6V.
I will try to get you some video tomorrow.

Here’s pictures of my current build - - specifically designed as a retrieve boat. Most of the construction materials/components I already had on hand. It’s constructed of foam covered with fiberglass and is twenty-two inches in length with an eleven inch beam. Power will be from a converted 3.5 K&B lower unit with a 27 turn brushed motor, and the ESC will be a forward/reverse DuraTrax unit, so it should be extremely maneuverable. I’ll post start to finish photos with how-to instructions in the Build Section when it’s completed.

                Free boats

I recently bought these http://cgi.ebay.com/TWO-2-PUSHBALL-R...item3a51e8555b off this guy on ebay to try as recovery boats. But when I got them, the literature said the range was only 30 meters (the ad said 300 ft) and they were green and red (I wanted a yellow one) unlike those shown in the ad. So I complained, and the guy said it was a mistake (not his) and for me to keep them and he would refund my money (which he did). Only reason I'm saying this is he hasn't changed the ad, and someone else might get disappointed.
