I use a Hextronic 120amps ESC. it is just shrink wrapped. I was thinking I could cut the wrap off, and put a small radio shack 6v fan on it and wrap it back up. Cut the hole for the fan to suck air and BAM! Air Cooled!
I do have a question about this. The 2 fan leads, where do I plug those in? Seems like I would need a Y cable. My Rx only has 2 channels and a battery slot, and I use all 3 obviously. (NO BEC)
So Could I splice into the battery leads that plug into the Rx and run a small fan that way?
Good Idea!
And I don't know about JB Weld. I was gonna get some artic silver thermal epoxy compound. it's only like 7-8 bucks..... But be carful, it's conductive just a little.

JB conducts heat better than regular epoxy, but you'll get better cooling with a small fan on the heatsink rather than those little water tubes....

I use small 12-volt fans and connect the fan wires to the ESC board where the power wired from the battery connect. Just a dab of solder, no need to melt the entire connection. This way the fan is always on. These tiny fans draw so little current your motor will never see the difference. The 12-volt fans can be used with from 6 cells to 18 cells.

The little fans I use really turn up when connected to the S-BEC I bought from Mr Hill. They push alot of volume. 3 Racing sells them & the heat sinks I use.
I'm using 12 volt 0.11 amp 30mm fans mostly - labeled Link Depot, etc. Made in China, there are probably a dozen or more different names put on identical fans. Mounted directly on top of the heat sink they work very well even on 8 cells/3S. There are differing quality and fan designs out there, I'm sure some are better than others. There is a big difference in the output of 30mm versus 25mm fans....about 40%.
