    AquaCraft 36-56-2030 and ESC

Any suggestions for a Aquacraft replacement motor that will work with the UL-1 60 am ESC? I'm running a 26"arrow deep vee (a Mini X). I was tweaking the boat and just got the thing dialed in, ran about a minute at wide open and it quit. When I opened the boat, well the smell told the story. I was running a single 4S2P 4000 Mah, 25C LiPO, 42mm prop and fried the ESC. Come to find out it looks like I also fried the motor - not sure why. I guess I should have checked the motor before replacing the ESC. So now I have an ESC and am wondering if I should replace the motor in kind or go for something different.

I've been running the boat either on 2 x 6/7 cell NiMH, 2 x 2S and the single 4S, using carbon props 40 and 42 mm. Temps ran from 115 to 125F on the motor or esc. Tried a 45mm prop and it got a little warm.

Anyone else have experience with a very narrow mono? I have found his boat very tempermental when it comes to side to side rock, and hooking.

    Thanks all.

I just installed the same UL-1 motor & esc in my sons NS2 & we're having shut down issues within seconds of take off.

    Test runs were on 6 cell x 2 NiMH's.

Did you have any issue's running your NiMH's with the UL-1 esc being it comes ready for Li-Po's?

      Vtblazer,

I had no problems with the UL-1 motor and ESC running 12 to 14 cells (4200 and 5000 Mah)with 40 and 42 mm props (26" mono). I also ran it with 2 X 2s LiPos (20C) (5000Mah) a few times and it appeared to run fine. Temps were good, no shut downs on take off or during the runs. I have had no other electical problems at all (once I go the Transmitter programmed) and was very pleased with the perfromance. I ran the boat several times well over 5 minutes without problems. That's why I am a bit puzzled that when I droped in the single 4S2P LiPO the ESC fried.

I'm begining to think it was a motor problem that lead to the ESC being fried. I opened the motor and found the central rotor was gouged in several places and some chips off the magnets.

Other than that, overal no real issues and was pelased with the performance.

        Good info to hear.

How did it run in the 26"?

Further invesigation on our part found it to be just a bad esc.

Glad to hear you found the problem. As for how it ran in te 26"; it ran great on 12 cells (did not see real improvements on 14 cells) and on the 2 x 2s 20C, 5000 LiPO's (I didn't push the run time with the LiPOs). Good run time with the NiMH cells, no heat problems. It was faster than my SuperVee and almost too much for the pond out back. My guess it was easily in the mid-30s and could have probably tweaked it faster.

Getting it dialed in was a bit tough - the side to side CG was sensitive, as was the rocking. Thankfully, when it did hook or flip it ended right side up always. It's great in rough water too! I was very pleased with the perfromance of the UL-1 setup.
