Question on Original SV 27 BL motor

I have acquired a Vac-U-Pickle that came with an old/original AquaCraft Super V 27 BL motor, according to OSE, it's 1700kv.
I find the cogging to be tremendous---I can hardly turn with my hand
How is it compared to the newer 1800kv motors. Is it less powerful and noticeably slower? Plan is to use an UL-1 motor, but for now I want to see if this motor would give me a feel of how the boat would run.
Advice and suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
    Cheers

The cogging is normal for that motor. I have 2 and they are the same.

I can tell you from my experience with the blue can sv motors they are faster then the 1500kv motors but generate a heck of a lot more hear with same prop. Keep to 45mm prop and you will be fine
I can push a lot more prop with 1500kv motor and be similar speeds.
I burned 1 up in my 1/10 shovel after 1 season of racing the inside glue let loose from heating up.
So with that said newer motors seam to handle hear and being pushed a bit better IMO.

            Thanks for the feedback, guys!

I was very fond of the AC 1800kv and 2030kv motors. They are relatively economical to acquire and the ones I had several years ago seemed to last forever. That is until recently I burned a brand new 1800kv motor in my MG, the set up was normal. m445 prop and running 4s2p with the SK180 ESC. The wires just melted and started a short, the insulation was not damaged at the exit as I TRIPLE checked before using the motor. I did not think a new motor needed Properchopper's treatment, and boy, was I wrong . Not sure I want to buy another one.
The Proboat motors are good but I am looking now for a 2000+kv motor ( UL-1), to up grade from the original SV27 blue can motor, wonder if the problem also applies to the 2030kv as well.

I was sufing the web, came upon this: http://www.xtmodel.com/en/Products/product_55.html.
orderd the 2100kv/2Y in place of the AC 2030kv (UL-1 MOTOR)
Let's see first if my order arrives, and then how it perfomes.
              This is gambling!
