I'm all for the CC Hydra 240, I did have some problems at first but that was all on me because I was not using the Castle link to program the ESC. I ve been hammering that ESC on a Matrix rigger for months now and its great, its even been dunked in the water .

I would never spend that kind of cash on a esc. I buy Chinese. Water cool it myself. Waterproof it myself and get it shipped to my house in 7 days for under $100.00.

the Turnigy 180 amp seems to be popular at the moment

Normal price at hobby king is 129$ us but with a platinum membership like mine (just from buying a bit of stuff) its only $89 which is a pretty good discount if you ask me

i have great luck with all my castl products.
                however a month ago i popped a hydra 120 for no reason.. i ran a small 3300 Mah 25 C lipo ( not capable of delivering 120 amps on a hacker 7L. and i rann a 35 MM prop.
but other then that i was good

One thing I would like to mention is that, the applied voltage must be 2s below the ESC's max.voltage. If planning to use 6s, buy at least an 8s ESC. Another thing is that I would never, never, never buy an ETTI 7s or a Himodel 7s or 8s to use on 6s. Burnt enough, maybe they are good for 4-5 times but after they are for the trash.

Could this be the problem? Courtesy of ETTI. As this may be a design problem for the HV controllers. Do not get me wrong I own 3 CC controllers, not HV and have had no problems. This problem of POOf on plug in is related to the HV series controllers only !!! If you run 6S on the LV series it will probably go poof

I run it as it came out of the packet, well packaging as there is not even a packet or instructions.
I use it on 4S feeding a 7XL loaded on a 642 prop in my bigger rigger.
I have brass cooling tubes on the stock alloy finned plate. I ground off the outer two fins each side and use square tube on there.
It gets warm but not hot.
                      See it....find the photos.....sketch it it....build it........with wood

I owned a few castle escs for airplanes and helis and they never popped. I think the problem might be they way they use seperate power boards to gain amps or voltage. All my heli and plane escs were one board designs.

It is about the size and weight of a 4s lipo. NO watercooling and waterproofing, you have to do it yourself. The price is about 200$ for the 3-10s, 200a. Only run twice until now on 4s and planning the next days to 5s and 6s in a 36"mono with a 1500kv motor.
Is is just huge comparing to HM,ETTI interms of FETS and capacitors, however I want to run it at least 10 times to be sure.
