When using a separate rx pack do you remove the red wire from the aux wire too or just on the receiver wire?

Remove the middle wire from both. The second set of wires also run power for higher BEC loads so it needs to be removed too.

One other thing. I hate to muck around with the ESC connector itself, so I make the mod to a short extension lead.

That’s what I did used a short extension lead with the red wire removed.
