What are your thoughts here on these batteries?Anyone run these?

So I am reading here about batteries and I ran across these that state true 100 C ratings and waterproof as well .
Now I am all for cheaper batteries for my boats and planes but for the boats I am looking for the most bang for the buck .
What is your thoughts as racers and runners of fast electric boats on how much you would spend to get an edge .
Thus far I only run at the ponds with friends but I may get time to get to racing at some point .
Point here is I like to see how fast I can make the boats go .
At this point the only two cell I have is an SV27 but it is running as a 4cell and it is going about all this small boat will take with mostly just the prop in the water .
I do have a large boat with a castle 800 or so Mah I run on 10 cells so this made me wonder if the cost is worth the gains for these somewhat pricey batteries .
If this was my only hobby I might not be as concerned about the $$$
But at this price point you could get I could get two or more less expensive batteries but the c ratings would be
    half as much .
Bear with me as I try to learn from those who have more experiance than this old gas or glow guy.

Numerous tests have shown that cells with anything near a 100C rating are a fantasy. IMO spend less time reading battery advertizing and more on asking about the results of others. True, the answers you get will vary with many folks saying that what they have is "the best" but those comments aren't really helpful without a baseline comparison. Example, most folks are really impressed with whatever new pack they buy - because they are comparing it to their old worn out pack. So anecdotal comments have limited value.

How do you choose top-power packs? It's tough. What I do is choose a few racers whom I trust and follow their advice, and evaluate packs myself. This latter is tough to do, but I use a single boat setup and record performance with new packs after breakin. Then at least I have some frame of reference. YMMV.

        1) stay away from max amps. All of their claims are lies.
        2) most of the mainstream batteries are good.

        Spc
        Smc
        Giant power
        Revolectrix
Venom (some will say they are over priced and they might be but they have served me well)
Turnigy (I don't like these and have used them myself. They fall off in power quickly)
        Hyperion
Even those bright lime green pack from China are pretty decent. Pulse is the name I think. I have one that's been severely abused and it keeps on going.

You never mentioned what battery your referring to though.

Read number one on my list. Very important. Everyone here will back me on it too. Max amps are the worst batts you can get for a boat. I did a battery test a while back and max amps was the slowest by far. Very disappointing.

What I will tell you is I let my boats sit for 2 years and so the boat batteries sat as well and the ones that held up well after sitting unattended , yes I know but I never intended to let them sit that long .
We got custody of my Grandson when he was 1 and a half , he is 4 now and is loving Pa Pas toys.

Anyway the Turnigy Nano techs actually held up to the challange of sitting as well as the G-force batteries from Value Hobby . Now I realixe they are not at peak anymore but they all but one two cell still give good run times and much fun.

So there is some life experiance from me to you .
Fund day at the pond today in Arizona , about ten other boaters there but most were gas , and now I got the jones for a gas boat . I have four gas planes two with 50cc engines so not new to gas either but in boats only run glow before this..

              I'm so weak.

Thanks Kfx I would have a hard time justifying the cost to myself even if I heard they were awesome.

Trust me, I give credit where credit is due and those things aren't worth half the price. The reason the price is so high I suppose is the great warranty they give you (that's what people say anyway). Still isn't worth it when they under perform so badly.

Jay is absolutely right and there's a well known company doing serious research in this field where there is a guy testing 7 days a week batteries and according to their test 40 to 42C is what is considered true.....100C is comedy IMHO!

KFX those SMC's seem pretty cheap. You definitely found them ok? Bit tough getting good lipos down here for a decent price of late. SPC seems constantly out of stock. If you've punished the smc's and found them ok I might take a look.
