    Dumb thing of the day

I went to do more trial runs with my Zippkits JAE 21 rigger today. I was using Grim 4s 5000mah, after the first run ( 1'32") , I brought her in to check temp and everything else with the intention of changing to a fresh pack, well I ended up putting the SAME ( they are all yellow, what can I say??) one back in and ran for another 2 minutes or so, the end of the story is that the voltage reading was at a all time low of 3.5v/cell. The HYPERION EOS SENTRY tells me a reserve of 5%.
    Is this battery history??
The temp on the battery was 130* and is not puffed, still hard. I charged it back to storage now.

I rarely run my batteries below 20%. Brain wasn't working!!
Too many boats, not enough time...

I think the danger zone is below 3.0v. Safe zone is above 3.3 or so. Your fine, I wouldn't worry about it.

Thanks, I should see in the next few days, I can tell you the Grim packs are pretty amazing. I thought for sure it will puff, but still hard as a rock---not that it is necessary an indication of how the actual condition is.

                Thanks for the assurance!

( I wouldn't mention the time that I hooked up two 4s in series thinking that I was hooking them up as in parallel )

Thanks! I didn't realize that until I got home, all the way while I was driving I couldn't understand why the battery was depleted so much...

I've had two packs go to pretty much zero and I was able to nurse them back to a state that the charger could charge them "normally". I needed to turn off the balancer setting and fool the charger that they were 1s, 2s and 3s until i could charge with the balancer as 4s. With the balancer turned off, it's 2A max charge for a 120 seconds. Needless to say it took many, many of these short sessions to bring them back.

Now how they got that way is the sad story. I had put the batteries on a storage charge, but when the charge was complete, one of my helpers just turned off the charger but left the batteries plugged in. It was the next day before I noticed.

Keep an eye on those packs fellas. You may or may not notice a capacity loss, but it's there.

I have been. I haven't noticed anything yet in the last year. I did run them through 3 slow charge/discharge cycles on the charger once they were nursed back.

Thanks for sharing, I wonder why the charger would allow reverse flow?

That is no simple feat---to nurse them back. Don't think my charger would allow me to turn off the balancing board, I use DuraTrax Ice charger and it needs external balancers like the ones from GREAT PLANES sold @ Towerhobbies. ( http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...&I=LXMGS7&P=SM) It won't go into charge mode without this connected.
Glad that you didn't see a drop in capacity though.
