Good Gawd what a mess. I read this entire thread to get an idea of the best packs for my setup and now I'm more confused than when I started reading.
Anybody running the Scorpion 2s 6600 65c Competition packs sold by Haiyin ? I was wanting these to run in series for 4s in my Black Jack 29. Only 270 grams. Are they good packs ?

Checked out the Dinogy Site, almost every battery 'Out Of Stock'. What is it with these vendors that they cant seem to ever have anything in stock anyway ? Hobbypartz...same story.. OUT OF STOCK, OUT OF STOCK, OUT OF STOCK...everybody is OUT OF STOCK..sheesh.
I got my first two electric boats thinking electric would be much easier to maintain etc. because I was growing tired from two decades of having to order 65% nitro in bulk and having half of it go bad before I could use it and pulling motors apart to clean them thoroughly after every use but to no surprise I'm finding out the headaches in this electric game are ultimately much worse mainly due to all the conflicting information about setups and unreliable vendors being out of stock on many items I need to get these two boats on the water.
I have parts carts at several different vendors and still cant get everything I need to set these boats up like I want them...That is sad and it has just about killed the fun all together ! Much more of this and these two boats will get tossed like a hot potato. I'm worn plum thin already.Comment

I don't know the story behind HobbyPartz, but I know Mark F personally and I can say this much: it is a good sign that his batteries are sometimes out of stock, it means more people are recognizing the quality of Dinogy Brand and business is picking up---long term benefits for us end users. Since he is not a huge vendor like HobbyPartz, one can't expect that he will over stock all configurations of batteries. Yes, it requires patience from us, but he is just like us, an RC guy whose interests are like ours.
HobbyPartz is another story, IMO, it is too big and it can't fill the needs of us boaters specifically, I used to run Sky lipos and I am quite fond of them, but the 4s, 5000mah has been out of stock for a year almost and they never seem to bother to re fill their stock.
Post here on the battery section and ask Mark, he will give you straight answers regarding how long it will take for the batteries to come in.
Cheers!Too many boats, not enough time...Comment

Its not just Dinogy. Its several other electric vendors as well. I've spent hours and hours of research trying to figure out what I want to set these boats up as the stock electronics are surely slow unreliable junk. I have several carts two of which are alleged top vendors and still cant get everything I need to build these two lousy boats up. Never have had this problem with my nitro rigs. Cant find any quality batteries in the size range I need, not even at HK ( not that I want to buy from there). Its been a real PITA so far . I watched one vendor get stock of something the day I started building my cart and before I could finish it within 24 hours they ran out of it. You would 'think' keeping things in stock or making sure you have more delivered 'before' you run out is good business sense but even the big vendors cant figure out how to do that. I'm about ready to box these new headaches up and send them on their way. I like doing business with vendors and people that make things happen. At this rate it will take months before these two boats even get wet....Comment

unless you are racing or doing speed runs any of the packs from hk should be fine. May not last as long as the higher end packs but so far they have served me well. There are other lipos than the couple you mentioned so its a bit pre mature to give up imo but if its stressing you out like it seems to be than perhaps nitro will bring you more enjoyment.Comment

I run my equipment pretty hard. I have never been one to just put put around or leave things stock. These are two brand new boats that have never seen water and I want to put them on the edge with new equipment but that task does seem to be testing my nerves a bit.
Go back and read this thread and tell me how anybody could walk away from it knowing anything more about batteries than they did when they got here. I haven't given up yet...YET... These boats will be way overpowered and over propped and I want batteries that will deliver and last so I'm not burning motors and ESC's up. Some people say the turnigy is all I need and then I see pics of exploded Nanotech's that almost burnt the whole rig up . It doesn't get any clearer than pictures. Those batteries are marginal at best.
Gens Ace I've read good things about but HP'z waits until they are completely out of stock to replenish items which sometimes takes months and I don't care to spend money with vendors that run a business that way. If I ran my business like that I wouldn't have a business.
What I need is some quality batteries preferably with a hi c rating 60c and up. A couple of 2s in the 6000 mah + range to run in series and a couple of 3s in the 6000+ MAH range to run in series that are made of quality and I don't have to drop $600 for them like those ridiculous Max Amps batteries. One thing about Max Amps though, they ARE in stock and are exactly the size I need..Comment

Then buy them...
Many of us have pushed the "cheaper" brands very hard and have had good results..but if you are worried then buy the "expensive" ones.
God only knows that none of them have EVERfailed.
Sounds like you want a Ferrari but don't want to pay for it.
This thread was for people to give their OPINIONS as to what they thought were good LiPos... Of course people are going to give differing opinions based on their experiences...if that make it confusing, then so be it.Grand River Marine Modellers

Find me a cheaper battery with 60c+ rating in the 6000+ range and I will consider purchasing it if it gets good reviews and hasn't burned down peoples boats. I don't mind a cheaper battery if they are made of quality. Actually, that is what I am looking for is a quality product at a reasonable price.
Yes I want a Ferrari but I don't want to pay twice what the Farrari is really worth to get it either. I pay plenty to play but finding quality products at a reasonable price that are in stock is next to impossible it seems...Comment
