If you slip a cable, both the cable and collet go in the trash. Both have lost material at the mating point and won't hold with a new counterpart. Reverse thread collets aren't necessary. I too am migrating towards the machine collets on my high RPM builds. Regular TFL stainless 1/4" collets have always been a favorite of mine on my bigger boats, as were the old MBP collets. If I had room, I used the MBP collets on nearly all of my boats. The H&M and LMT style collets have slipped on every 1/4" cable I used them on. Didn't have problems with the 3/16" variety, but I don't trust them anymore.

It is ready for deck, but I will be fitting out the components, pouring foam, etc, before that.

Wow, that part dropped in there like a lego brick. Well done!

6 cartwheels, 3 of which are on dry land, at 100mph will tell you how strong the hull is. Ask me how I know...

I didn't even think about that. Sorry if I did wrong. I will correct if needed...

LOL. At the response of course, not your poor boat.

Thanks, I think she has 100 in there with some balancing. You are next, your hull is going to be bulletproof. I do love the way it rides flat on the water.

Do you know where to get spare shafts other than MHZ? They sell the set for $93 euros. They are an odd size, 6mm prop shaft to a 3/16 flex.

They sell just the propshafts for less. You can glue in your own flex cables with loctite.

Is it possible to unglue the flex shaft with heat and reuse the prop shaft?

Yes. I graphite epoxy my cables in place, and a bit of flame and they pull right out. Same as if you silver braze them in.

                      Feet

Rather than bond the flat plates into the hull, then build up reinforcement at their bases, I do it all on the part, then simply bond the parts in place. It turns out very clean with this method.

Here is the radio plate ready, with Shimano Dura-ace cable housing ends inside. Of course, I'll be using Dura-ace opti-slick cables and housing, cuz that's just the way I roll...

                      And the motor bulkheads starting:

The motor bulkheads will be very diffrent from the norm...

What did you build-up the feet of the servo mount with?

Beautiful build, I wish I had your Carbon skills.

If interested, I order these custom cnc collets. I am hoping these are the buy once and end all solution for me. Building shafts isn’t cheap, 85 euros for just the stubs from MHZ. I hope I never burn up a shaft and collet again.

I lay-up 2-layers of 6oz. carbon cloth on the area to have something mounted to it (see above post, where I laid the carbon on the packing tape). Same with the servo tray. Then I make a fillet between the plate and the lay-up "foot". Then more layers of carbon, to join the foot to the plate.

The motor bulhead will get 4-layers of 6oz. cloth, on both sides of the plate, with the balsa core between. A solid carbon plate will go into the balsa plate, between the 4-layer-skins, so that fasteners won't mash the core. And also to... :)

Those look the business! If mine slip, I'll be looking at those for sure. I'll be filling the ends of my cables with silver braze / mapp-gas as well, to help with strength.

To add, the collet has a replaceable insert which is what sold me on them. I’ll just have spare inserts.

Radio-tray installed. Bit of mud on the feet, mush-down in place, wipe up squeezed out mud. Done. There is plenty of realestate on the aft plate for electronics. I might cut off some, that is not needed.
