    how to make a cowl?

I got a project going that currently has no cowl. What do people do to make them? I had a last minute idea to lay tape over the opening and then a layer of wax paper. With a tennis ball over the motor. Its currently curing and I have my doubts about it.

    currently

Looks like an Aeromarine sprintcat. What length is it, 42"? You should be able to find a cowl for it.

Why not make one from some 1/8"ply, just build a '?ockpit' over the motor then a light layer of glass to strengthen and seal the wood.

You could put an ask in the buy, sell, swap page for a cowl. I'm sure someone will have one sitting around.

This was my one I had a couple of years back. Castle 2028, Swordfish 300, ran it 10s 2p, would beat the gassers.

Got run over by a gas sport hydro, was on me, I flipped the boat at the start and landed right in front of him.

I was running x452/3 from memory. With your set up I would suggest 447 as a start.

thats a relief I figured it needed 60mm+ or something. Jesse J who sold me the motor said he was making a cowl for me from his SprintCat. That's why I havent made a wanted thread.

I realize now how stupid it was to make the motor scoop while making the main body. Shoulda removed the motor, made a flat piece then cut a hole in it for a cowl thats made separately. I have flipped the main body of the hatch so that the edges go downward. then I placed the new scoop on the upside down main hatch. With neoprene glued around the boats hatch recess the whole thing sits fairly level with the body making taping easier.

and now on the boat. it fits enough that I think it will seal. At least for a shakedown run tomorrow.
