The transom is o.k. but I might want to put a layer of wood or carbon plate to cover it up.

I don't know what epoxy you used so I don't know if washers and bolts will sink into it, or that it may crumble over time??

Easy add-on or fix. Just goop up a piece of wood, whatever, and slap it in. That will be nice and solid for mounting.

Hello guys,
I reInfoced the hull: glass fiber for the front joint hull, epoxy in the points and between the 2 points ,
I used carbon layer for the bottom and sides of the hull , and back table which receives the rudder is doubled



I also put epoxy in this part to reinforce, to have a good access to the rudder' s screws and to have a nice flat surface for washers
Let me know what you think, did I made a mistake?

Thats how Ive always done mine and never had an issue.

Thanks. I used 2 components epoxy from Avio & Tiger. I hope this will be strong enough. I' ll mount largest washers as possible

What Ive also done that works well, after you drill your holes, drill them larger to accept a piece of brass tubing that your rudder bracket screws will go thru. Then install them in the hull, then fill the rudder extension w/ epoxy. Fill it as close to the end of the brass tube as possible. You dont ever have to worry about sinking etc of washers and nuts into the epoxy that way.

You can do the tube method after the extension has been filled as well. Just make sure you get some type of adhesive in there for the brass to bite to the epoxy.

And another thing you can do, take a piece of 1/8 aluminum, cut it into a sqare to fit back there inside the hull, put it in (and the trick is to hold it there, and mark where your 4 screws hit it. Take it out and drill and tap the holes, then put it back in there and screw your bracket scews into it as one gigantic heavy duty washer.

Yes that' s good, I' ll will wait more than 1 week to be sure epoxy is very strong.
Next step is the bulkhead with polystirene in the front of the hull Anyway I' ll make paint job before mounting all components.

Ahh paint.. I just stripped mine down today to begin prep. I lieketo build mine out completely, run it and make sure nothing major needs changed. Once I know I dont have to drill any other holes etc, I strip it out and the fun begins.

Did you decide on a scheme? Last I remember you had several decals but hadnt quite decided yet?

After that : install alu in hull, screw rudder in place.
Make sure the alu plate/rudder is in the right position.
After that : poor some epoxy around the alu plate to secure the plate at the right spot.

Alain,
"My-Way" is a sweet boat. Great choice. The owner Bill Thomlinson live in Canada and keeps the boat less than 5 miles from our place in the 1000 Islands. I see it run all the time in the summer. You can hear those turbines comming for miles away. He will have the boat out during the 1000 Island Poker Run in August.

That what I was saying. Not doing it inside the hull.. No way. Id epoxy the screws in before I tried that.
