A clear coat over most rattle can paints is very difficult to fix when you have damage to the orginal paint. The shine to my old eyes looks is not natural, a very plastic look. I still love the look of a well painted lacquer finish and very easy to fix.

Douggie, I do understand that the paint could take up to 2 months to fully cure.
I just need this to be ready on saturday. If it goes bad, I can easily fix it. -I am not that bad of a painter. I have painted few 1:1 cars on my younger days(not that I´m old or anything)
I just hate rattle cans.....
maybe I´ll get a proper paint gun in the winter and do this properly.

True auto painting techniques are very different as they use catalayst paints, which is nasty stuff and they can do repairs much quicker. They use a base paint that has no shine and then apply a clear coat

Sorry guys, a bit offtopic here, but I needed to clarify things .
I did not state that you stated that it takes 2 months-sorry if I gave you that impression.
I ment to write that I know from my experience that these acrylic paints cure up to 30-60 days. The 24hrs to dry, is usually enough to start using the painted thing, but it is not completely cured.
They dont usually use the "nasty stuff" anymore on 1:1 cars, it is water based paints nowdays -in here atleast (they are still nasty, but not that bad - the old stuff did stick better on the cars, though)
And the metallic paints only require the clear, normal paints are good to go after 24hrs drying in the oven.(they are 2k(paint+hardener) paints though)

I used Motip spray cans. (on the can it reads motip dupli company, so I guess it is dublicolor in some countries) here are pics of the paint/ing http://kuvablogi.com/blog/4540/45/
The primer is missing from that pic, and I used satin black on window, but the clear made it shiny offcourse.

Ahhh, I think I'm done, unlike fastvee this took forever but for my first build I am really happy with the results. It is ready for its first run the only problem is that the bayou ( our river here in south Louisiana ) is piled really thick with water hyacinthsthese things are horrible here this time of year, but hopefully I'll find a break and get to run it soon.I have a few pics of the boat finished what do you guys think?
