10mm brass tube and flexi shaft

Hi Guys, I really need some advise. I am fitting twin Arnson drives to a large cat. Am I right in thinking that the drive shaft only passes through the hull and not into the drive itself. I have been told to drill a hole suitable for a 10mm rubber grommet and pass the tube through the grommet and into the Arnson Drive. Is this right.

Any Help much appreciated.
